I’ve never bought a console at release but I came close to this time around. I had pre-ordered the PS5 with a $100 deposit before they completely embarrassed themselves by banning everyone just for talking about TLOU2 so I cancelled that pre-order even though I didn’t get a refund. I’ll probably still buy a PS5 a couple of years into its life cycle and I’ll buy it from Japan so the money doesn’t go to SIE Europe or whichever one it is responsible for sales in Australia, or I’ll buy a used one even though I can afford a new one.
I don’t think I’ll ever be switching to an XBox since I’ve never played one and the controller seems strange to me. I came close to buying an XBox Series S or whatever the latest one is called, but when I learned that you need AA batteries for the controllers I decided to upgrade from a PS4 to a PS4 pro because the idea of having to constantly be replacing friggin AA batteries in a controller like it’s a TV remote is completely backwards and inconvenient in the 21st century. At least until they get rid of that I won’t be buying an XBox. Besides that, pretty much every XBox exclusive game is also available on Windows as far as I’m aware.
