X-Men: Dark Phoenix Trailer Teases an Emotional Ride

X-Men: Dark Phoenix has had a troubled production, including re-shoots that pushed the film from its November release to February and some behind the scenes issues. I can’t say I was particularly excited for this film after all I’ve heard, and when they announced that we’d be getting a trailer, I was surprised because it had kind of fallen by the wayside in my cinematic plans. Well, the trailer has dropped, and you can check it out below:

I think, no matter what, this trailer was going to get flack. It’s the next entry in a virtually dead franchise, and because it’s going to be picked up by the MCU, Dark Phoenix is going to be received poorly because it’s hip and cool to hate on it. Not saying that everyone who dislikes this trailer will have poor reasons, as I’ve seen plenty of X-Fans who take issue with the way Kinberg seems to be making X-Men: Dark Phoenix. I, however, really enjoyed this trailer. The tone of it is precisely what I was hoping for; it’s somber, intense, and dramatic. The dynamics between the characters, their anger or longing, it all feels genuine to me from the two minutes we’ve been shown. X-Men: Dark Phoenix looks visually strong as well, with the new uniforms making me especially giddy. It’s only a teaser, and the movie could be awful for all I know. But as a trailer, I think this is a home run, and my excitement for this film has finally returned.

What did you think of the trailer? Let me know in the comments below! Stay nerdy everyone!
