Very suspicious. Frankly F’em both.
I think GRRM is overrated btw; After book 3, there’s a noticeable drop in quality. The guy’s an excellent writer but man he needs an editor. Book 5 follows Tyrian who becomes a slave, meets a dwarf girlfriend, gets drunk etc and meanderingly finds himself in an arena before Dani is dragon-napped. Basically they could have cut most of that shit and then gotten some more chapters in? There’s also a new POV, a Dornish prince who ends up dying/cooked by dragons… which is again a lovely waste of pages that could have been given to POVs we care about.
As for Rothfuss, it’s hard to say if the 3rd book doesn’t deliver. Name of the Wind is an interesting subversion of ideas and a deconstruction of a hero done well. Wise mans fears were also done well… but it falls flat if book 3 doesn’t link everything well. There are a lot of interesting theories on hints and characters like GOT had… but I’m losing patience waiting for book 3.
