Deleted Joker Scene From The Batman Shows What Barry Keoghan Had In Store for the Villain

A deleted scene from The Batman shows famous DC villain the Joker in Arkham Asylum interacting with Robert Pattinson’s Batman.

The five-minute clip, as of writing, is still unlisted on the Warner Bros. Youtube channel with over 200,000 views.

Barry Keoghan had his own reaction to the scene in the tweet below.

Director Matt Reeves cut the scene from the final film; however, we did see an interaction between The Riddler and Joker at the end of the movie.

Reeves spoke to IGN detailing why he cut Joker’s scenes, saying, “What’s interesting is that the reason that Joker’s in the movie is there was actually another scene that was earlier. And because the movie is not an origin tale for Batman, but it’s his early days, it really is an origin tale for the Rogue’s Gallery’s characters,” Reeves said. “And for me, I think [it’s] this idea that the Joker is not yet the Joker, but they already have this relationship.”

This iteration of Joker seems closer to a comic book version of the character, as opposed to what we saw in Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. Not to say Phoenix’s Joker wasn’t good, or the movie wasn’t well done, but the look and feel is more comic-book-based, albeit a little on the younger side.

Jack Nicholson was fantastic as the Joker in 1989’s Batman, but since Heath Ledger’s posthumous Oscar-winning performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight, audiences are hoping the next actor can carry the torch with the respect it deserves. 

Hopefully, we see more of Barry Keoghan’s Joker in future films in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman franchise.
