As mentioned in other threads I am looking backwards at movies looking for cool stuff that maybe is somewhat forgotten. So this morning I found “Running Scared” on HBO Max and decided to give it a try.  I like Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines so I while I knew nothing or remembered nothing about this movie I gave it a shot.

It’s a great 80’s movie.  Very 80’s , very funny and charming and you will recognize many of the folks in it.  Nothing complex about it and it’s no Beverly Hills Cop but its pretty fun and cool.

If you tend to like 80’s movies I would give this one a shot. It was good to see Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines in their heyday.

Going to have to watch this one. I think it’s a reminder of how disappointed I am in entertainers today. I didn’t realize what an influence Billy was when I was really little. To me, I always liked him, just as a guy. For some reason, he seemed like he almost had the perfect masculinity. Like very firm and serious, but kind and reserved. He was one of my favorites growing up and did a great job.

Will check this one out. Obviously, I recall City Slickers and When Harry Met Sally. Billy Crystal was an all time great. At the time, he was just an actor. In retrospect, he was a great example of a man.

Also, side note time, but I went thru a ballet fan phase recently. I just like how it looks, like Parkour on the stage. Anyway, I got all arrogant and snobby about ballet and thought Mikhail Baryshnikov was awesome. I went back to check out Gregory Hines thinking there was no way he’d compare and Hines was so quick and smooth on the tap that it surprised me how good he was.

Hines was awesome and so is Crystal. They made the movie work well.  It’s an 80’s time capsule.
