If I may butt in as an Australian who is worried about the state of the world, watching from the sidelines – I don’t see a scenario that brings a positive outcome where a video depicting a horrible act isn’t being universally condemned and where blame is being shifted on the person posting the video. If you guys are serious about wanting to peacefully deescalate the tensions you’re having in the States, you might at least try and find some common ground. When a black person does something horrible to a white person we should all condemn that, and when a white person does something horrible to a black person we should all condemn that. To turn every development into an argument about history and false equivalencies (one side did this so the other side doing that is OK) doesn’t help anyone. It makes matters worse. To post nine times in this thread and not once flat-out express that this is wrong is tantamount to supporting this type of violence by omission. Soynic coming to the rescue saying essentially the same things doesn’t help either.

Whenever something horrible happens, it’s always a chance to put our differences aside and come together in saying that we all hate horrible things like that. Trying to justify it by character-assassinating the OP or by talking about historical injustices does the opposite of bringing people together.

You don’t have to say anything at all, but had you read my well though-out argument I made a case for why I think it’s better to say nothing at all than it is to fan the flames. Now you and Soynic have just made people who were pissed even more pissed by fanning the flames instead of showing empathy and deescalating the situation… Just stop and think for a moment…

Get your head out of your ass! You don’t see the hypocrisy of what you said while telling those like Niko to shut up? Maybe Niko isn’t a MENSA-level genius, but he brings up issues that are troubling him greatly, and none of what you’ve said helps anyone in any way. I’m only 10% as upset as Niko is and I’m getting pissed off with your defense of the indefensible. No wonder your country is so fucked up if there are many idiots like you and Soynic. I suggested that we all condemn violence on both sides and you refused FFS. When something bad happens to someone innocent – that is not a time to pounce on the person who brought it up because similar things have happened/are happening elsewhere. There will never be peace or mutual understanding for as long as we can’t all agree on something that is as basic as violence not being the answer. And if you post 10+ times without condemning what happened but instead attacking the side that is angry about the attack you’ll provoke the fuck out of that side and we’ll all be in a worse place than where we started.
