A thread in tribute to one of the greatest comedy movies of all time and one of the funniest movies ever made (laughed pretty much throughout the entire film).  Also with the current climate going on right now, I can imagine this movie will be next on the chopping block to get cancelled and banned (which would be ironic since this movie makes fun of racist tropes and stereotypes).

Great movie, but then again I think every Mel Brooks movie is great. Spaceballs is my favorite but Blazing Saddles is number two for me.

Great movie had a good laugh the whole way through. I enjoyed the movies that Mel Brooks has created especially Spaceballs being my absolute favorite out of the bunch coming in second would be Robin Hood: Men in Tights and finally third would be Young Frankenstein.

A great move, although after Gone with the Wind was taken down by HBO. I’m worried they’ll turn their sights to this classic.

Another classic of Brooks is High Anxiety.  I especially enjoy how it parodies the movies of Hitchcock.

The cowboys sitting around the campfire eating baked beans is a classic scene in a movie filled with great moments and one liners (“What in the wide, wide world of sports”). I’m glad I’ve got this on DVD since who knows how long it will be available. One of the extras is the pilot from the proposed TV series ‘Black Bart’.

“Oh baby, you are so talented…and they are so DUMB!” XD

“Mongo only pawn, in game of life.”

I just love how Mel uses the same actors in his movies. Harvey Korman, Cloris Leachman, Peter MacNicol, Madeline Khan (wonderful actress and gorgeous)

One of my favourite scenes from the movie, is where Lili Von Shtupp (Madeline Kahn) says to Bart.

“Tell me, is it true what they say about the way you people are… gifted?”

The lights go out and all you can hear is Lili’s voice saying

    “Oh, it’s ture. It’s true. It’s true, it’s true!”

In interviews, Mel Brooks has said that scene was extended a bit; Bart says something like “I hate to disappoint you but you’re sucking on my elbow”. Warner Bros thought that was going a bit far and so the scene ended with the “it’s true”. Which I think works better than the elbow joke.

I love that movie.  Glad I have the DVD in case it gets struck down and never printed again.  I’ve got Spaceballs and Young Frankenstein as well.

I have Blazing Saddles memorized!  One of my dad’s favorites.
