I’m concerned about how they will handle the Obi-Wan show

Let’s be fair here, you can’t say anything is good or bad until you’ve seen it. At least give them the chance to prove you wrong. Glad to see you’ve already made up your mind on 10 different shows before you’ve seen any of them though.

As for me, there is no “real Star Wars”. I really dislike the Disney Trilogy, but lets not pretend that the EU didn’t have absolutely terrible storylines in it too. I actually kind of like it this way, in a weird way. Both have good and bad stories to choose from to be your canon. Best to just choose what you like and ignore anything you don’t like in your head canon. Trust me, you’ll be way happier as a fan when you realize this.

But again, no reason to go cry online every time something new is announced because it has the possibility of being bad like you EU people do. Show concern if you must, but don’t let that evolve to anger.

All of these shows are shit.  I am done with Star Wars.

I read the EU for over 25 years, starting with the Thrawn Trilogy as it was released, and all the way through the main story line until the end of Fate of the Jedi. Every single ounce of it was heads and shoulders taller and stronger than ANY of this crap you see on that list. Knowing who is in charge, what crap stories they want to tell, I damn well sure can make a snap judgment before even watching as second of any of it, because it’s all gonna be lame and normie snacks.

Hell, I’ve been a Gina Carano fan for over a decade since I first saw her on American Gladiators years and years ago, but my simping for her won’t make me watch Rangers of the New Republic at all. We already hear your hero Dave Filoni trying to hem and haw about the Ahsoka show and where it is in this cobbled together god awful Disney Timeline, pissing his pants with his bullshit and cannon breaking habits to break his own stupid cannon. Does anyone care about that Andor show where we know his ultimate fate in a movie that people only liked because of Vader kicking ass? Leslie, I helped Harvey Weinstien rape people, Headland gonna woke it up…you know it. All the animated boring ass stuff that takes shows adventures of people that all eventually end up dead because they never play a role in the future actual OT Rebellion, so who really cares what they do?

Then let’s see….Patty “All I ever did was Wonder Woman and please don’t pay attention to how bad WW 84 is gonna be” Jenkins gonna butcher Rogue Squadron, because after WW 84 we’re all gonna know how woke she really is when given full control without Snyder to keep her in check.

So really…what’s good about any of this?

I’m in the process of unboxing all my Star Wars books at this moment to set them up on a book shelf that’s about to arrive, and you know what? I look at them and I smile, because guess what….that IS real Star Wars.

Don’t go and tell me I’m spouting off in anger here. What you see isn’t anger…it’s disgust. Disgust at the content and those behind it. I have a very good friend who is probably salivating at all of this stuff. We’ve played games together for years, even years and years of SWTOR where I lead her and her family through raids. She is a wonderful and kind person with a lovely family, and she is one of the gentlest people I know with a great big heart….but her taste in this stuff is terrible and I tell her so we we talk about. And you know what she says to me?

“But it’s Star Wars.”

I think she’s dead wrong, and she knows it, but she’s allowed to feel that way just like everyone else who actually will buy into this stuff.

So don’t you dare call me intolerant about any of this and tell me I’ll be happier if I accept it and give it a chance. Piss off with that.

I get it. You grew up with the EU stories. Nothing will ever compare. But why not give other shows a chance before saying they’re garbage? No matter how bad they are you will still have your EU stories to fall back on. As a Star Wars fan, I will give it all a chance. If it’s bad, I’ll stand right with you and say it’s bad. But unlike you, I won’t just say something I know nothing about is bad because I’ve brainwashed myself into thinking nothing will ever be as good as the EU stories. It’s one thing to say a story is bad after you’ve seen it. It is something completely different to say a story you haven’t seen is bad. Sorry, man, you’re wrong on this one. There is no way for you to know.

Interesting that you confuse giving a show a chance with simping. I would have thought I would like the Disney Trilogy if I were a Disney simp.

As for head canon, that is all we have left in the Fandom Menace. None of us really like the Disney Trilogy and you know they aren’t going to get rid of it. Like it or not, that is canon, so if the Disney Trilogy does not exist to you and the EU stories do, you are living in head canon.

Dave Filoni is no hero of mine, he has made plenty of mistakes in Star Wars. I will never defend decisions he has made that people don’t like. That is opinion. I will, however, defend him when people blame him for everything wrong with Disney Star Wars, specifically for decisions Lucas himself made. Those are facts that can’t be disputed. I also never called you intolerant or said you have to accept it. Stop putting words in my mouth. I did say to give it a chance. You never know when one of them will surprise you.

So my question ultimately is why are you on these forums? You obviously don’t want to debate Star Wars with that comment, so is it just to say how bad Disney is at everything? If I were you I would much rather talk about all the EU stories I love. Never really see you start any of those threads here though. Is there nothing good to discuss in the EU after 25 years of reading them? I think that’d be fun if you don’t want to do the dance again as you say.

The term head cannon is bullshit, invented by people to make themselves feel better, and frankly everyone is a hypocrite about it, even some of our favorite Tubers. Gary himself one week tells all of us who are EU people that we have to live with Disney Star Wars as ruining Star Wars because everything on film and live action has to take priority over books and games…then the very next week while ranting about Dr. Who says he will ignore Dr. Karen and live in his head cannon with old Who. That was the moment I decided that even using the term head cannon is bullshit and pointless. There is real and there is fake. What we have now is fake. Plain and simple, black and white, peanut butter and jelly.

And don’t stand there and ask me why I’m on these forums if I’m not starting threads about the EU to generate EU discussion. First, there were EU threads started way early when the forums went live, and a few of us said a few things here and there, then no one wanted to talk about it. I read the room. No one is interested in talking about the EU, so why am I going to even start a thread that dies after my single starting post? There is no reason to talk about the EU at the moment, because we’re all here to bitch and fucking moan. We’re pissed off, and we come here to vent. You can’t tell us not to come here and do that by asking why we’re even here if we’re not going to even “give it a chance” and “talk about how it might be good.”

Perfect example of how no one cares about EU topics. Our EU boy Ryan Kinel, who I respect the hell out of as an EU expert because he even knows more than I do, started his whole channel with that focus, then he realized it wasn’t getting anywhere, as much as I loved it, and instead started giving angry takes on shit…which is still fine cuz he’s good at it. I appreciate that, because I’m frankly the same way about shit.

My point in bringing up Ryan is that when this new garbage starts to “harvest” the corpse of the EU Disney left out to die in the sun for ideas. THAT is the time to talk about the EU, because the conversation is relevant. Starting an EU topic right now is not relevant. Bitching about how pointless this line up of crap TV is relevant.

As this point, I am fairly sure you and I will never agree on anything Star Wars. We’ve had enough discussions where it is clear we are quite diametrically opposed in views, and that’s fine, but it has to be said neither of us will ever convince the other, I’m sure of it.
