Yet I still have motherfucks who dont comprehend why I have hated the rat since I was old enough to think.

Alan Dean Foster is the one who made this public some time ago.

It seems Disney thought they could buy the rights to the novels but not the obligations to pay royalties to those who’s wrote the books.

If Disney successfully wins the court case, then I can see from now on, a publisher can sell the rights to a numbered company, who then sells the rights to the Big Corporations with no obligations to pay royalties.

Or even all authors have a contract with a numbered company who at the drop of a hat, sell the rights to the work without the royalty obligations.

I consider this intellectual property thief!

It was this event that made me finalize my decision to stop trying to get an agent and, therefore, not work with traditional publishing and go the self publishing route.

Next week I plan to start a conversation that has been touched on in a long ago book thread, where I will talk about what I plan to do starting next month, as well as what I think the intersecting communities (Fandom Menace, Comicsgate, etc) that come here can possibly start doing. What I will say now, is that I believe there needs to be a literary novel version of Comicsgate where independent authors who have the creative talent and professional writing skill but have been gate kept because we are not woke enough can come together to promote and successfully get books crowd funded.

Again, I’ll start that conversation after the holidays.
