What is your favorite mangaka? My favorite mangaka is Masashi Kishimoto who created the Naruto franchise and the Samurai 8 manga. I am interested in the community’s favorite mangakas, what the person likes about the manga, and how well was the manga adapted into animation. From my point of view, the Naruto manga was a great read. However, when it comes to adaptation, I like Studio Pierrot’s adaption of the cannon material, but did not like the filler episodes at all.

Tite Kubo (Bleach) and Kentaro Muira (Berserk). Their art style inspired me to draw that way. Kubo isn’t great drawing backgrounds but I love how he draws the characters. Berserk is amazing, almost every page is so detalied, no blank spaces. He puts a lot of effort into those pages.

Studio Pierrot’s quality is irregular. Some times they are great (like Naruto VS Sasuke final fight) but with Black Clover… well the animation is “not that good”.

Thank you for your post, Lord_Overlord_Sama! I agree with you that Tite Kubo has a unique style to his art. He is also great at developing interesting characters such as Ichigo, Rukia, Aizen, Byakuya, and Toshiro Hitsugaya to name a couple of examples. I have not check out Berserk yet but have heard good things about it. I also agree with you about Studio Pierrot’s quality when it comes to consistency can be hit and miss.

Rumiko Takahashi is a good mangaka too.

Kentaro Miura. For sure. The art in Berserk is some of the best I’ve seen in a Manga, and the story is top tier as well.

Now if he’d just release chapters more consistently, I’d be even happier.

Makoto Yukimura (Vinland Saga) also has a great story with some really good panels.

Hello Celwind and FischersOfMen, I hope that both of you are doing well. For Celwind, Mrs. Takahashi is very well known for Inuyasha. I have only seen clips of the anime of Inuyasha so I need to check it out some time. For FischersOfMen, I really like Kentaro Miura’s art style just have not follow Berserk much. However, due to the recommendations, I will have to check them out some time. I have never heard of Makoto Yukimura though.

      I’m reading Alita Battle Angel

Hello Sub_Human84, thank you for your comment. How is Alita Battle Angel? Who wrote Alita Battle Angel? I have heard that the live-action movie was a pretty good movie that I need to check out in the future. When you are done reading it, does the manga compare to the anime and/or movie of the same name or did it change a bit. Once again, thanks for your contribution to the discussion.

Kohei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia) and Hideyuki Furuhashi (My Hero Academia: Vigilantes) mainly because the My Hero Universe is popping off right now.  No spoilers here but I might write a topic down the line discussing my thoughts and theories about both series down the road.

Hello scamman93, I really enjoy Kohei Horikoshi work on My Hero Academia. It is an amazing work of manga and I appreciate the art style. I created a forum on My Hero Academia in the anime section today if you want to check that out. However, I do not mind discussing My Hero Academia with you as I have been keeping up with the manga and watching the anime this summer. Thank you for adding onto the discussion and your reply is appreciated.

I have to be the lame one here but I adore Akira Toriyama’s style from Dr.Slump to Dragonball to Dragon Quest to his short stories, seeing his iconic art style always makes me happy. He is also a man of culture, almost every of his works have at least one naked woman somewhere ;)

Hello MusouTensei, I do not think that your choice is lame. It is your opinion and I respect it. I have heard of Mr. Toriyama’s Dragonball manga and art style. This manga and art style is great and is a big inspiration to my manga of Naruto. Kishimoto learned a lot about anime and manga from Toriyama and without Dragonball then there would be no Naruto. Thank you for your reply to your discussion.

I’m torn between Beserk and One Punch Man

        #159049

Yukimura is the author of Vinland Saga. A really good Manga that actually just got an excellent anime adaptation. The art style is similar to that of Miura’s in Berserk. Lots of detail that other Mangaka often don’t have. The story is different than most manga as well – it is set in the Medieval period and is about Vikings attacking England.

My preference of Mangaka places pretty much equal emphasis on the story and the art. Good stories can be told with crappy art, and amazing art can be paired with crappy stories. It takes an exceptional talent to have both amazing art and a great story.

        In my opinion at least.

Hello SonOfKa131, Berserk and One Punch Man are good quality mangas. I have not experienced them before. What do you like about both mangas? Who are your favorite characters?
