I’ve been catching up with the Arktoons comics lately, and I’m really liking this one. It’s got half comedy vibe I prefer in comics, and the art is simple and clean.

The main idea is that Fullstrike has accumulated and mastered dozens of secret techniques, but can only hold 4 in his mind at any one time. As a result, he has to bring his techniques around in a book, like a spell book, to reference the ones he needs when they’re called for.  It has a One Punch man feel to it (and no lack of nods to same).

Like everything at Arktoons, it’s free to read right on the site.

Thanks for posting. Arkhaven is another one of those companies with vast potential. My Sister Suprema is definitely my favorite. They nailed that one. It’s just cute and funny with great jokes. It is one the level of The Incredibles. https://www.arkhaven.com/comics/superhero/my-sister-suprema/a-dire-situation

I gave Fullstrike a shot and could not stop reading it. This is a great time for content. Comics are in good hands with Arkhaven. That Cliff Cosmic guy has a great art style and is able to capture power, speed and movement with the swooshes of his line work pens. I really liked him with Alt-hero, when Dynamique clapped that tranq dart in mid-air and then, proceeded to defeat all the agents before she ran into Captain Europe, the strong villain.

It’s a bit encouraging because I was listening to some people talk about the cartoons they grew up with, and they were a bit younger than me and everything they talked about kind of sucked. I think that if kids grow up with Arkhaven, they are in for more of a treat. I think the same way about Wingfeather, as I was listening to the soundtrack, I was impressed that it was actually quality music and quality songs. Don’t get that much anymore.

One thing that kind of makes me wish I could live another life is just to be a kid in the Arkhaven era. Fullstrike and My Sister Suprema are really entertaining. The witty banter back and forth are things smart kids would say. Also, Arkhaven has a few titles, like the Hammer one and the other one from Brazil, that I’m surprised get published, because they are very revolutionary.

Arktoons also has Chuck Dixon about to start his take on a Punisher character (as Marvel has basically killed The Punisher).  The character is going to be called “Black Warrant.”  Given the writer and character, this will probably be the first Arkhaven book I make sure to get a physical copy of.

I like your take on this. Sometimes I think “kids today will never get to get the kinds of stories I could just get from comics I picked up at the rack in the grocery store.” Meanwhile, they can get Ironage stuff online, for free even, that’s probably as good or better than what I got from the big 2.  Perhaps we lived through the beginning of the end, and they’re the ones about to get the new Golden Age of better stories.

The Claremont/Byrne era will never return, but we know that is not the standard.

It’s a paradox that some great writing and great stories don’t necessarily sell. Kiyosaki said something funny about that of his book cover. He was telling a college grad that his book says “best selling,” not best writer or best educated. He was telling an author to go to sales class and she was all insulted by that.

Good call on the Iron Age stuff. That is something Razorfist, Chuck Dixon and others kind of targeted was passe’ pulp stuff since before 70s, I think. I didn’t even think about Iron Age comics tell you said that. Chuck is rewriting the bubbles of a lot of the old war comics.
