I discovered Gunnm when I saw the video cover of the anime adaptation in a Blockbuster store, which I never saw. But the name stuck with me and years later I found the original manga online. And it was awesome!!

Years later, again, found out about the continuation, Last Order, and now I’m following Mars Chronicles.

Still one of my favorite manga and one of the best stories I’ve ever read: Yukito Kishiro has created an incredible universe teeming with life and history and I hope that if they do a second movie they do justice to his work.

Let me know if the new stuff is worth reading…

I definitely enjoyed the manga and wish the movie hadn’t tried to push too much into that one movie. I’d rather they split Hugo’s fate to a sequel and instead did a better job of developing the villain. One of the coolest endings was in book one where she’s hunting him in the sewers while also realizing more of herself.

The series itself really has nice touches and callbacks. One of the most touching is book 7? where she catches “Lou” as she’s falling and says something like “Made it this time!”

Mars Chronicles is good so far, but ( a little bit of spoilers) the flashback to Gally’s childhood has lasted too much.
