I watched a TYT episode (The Young Turks) recently and I watched it long enough to follow the logic they were putting down explaining how DeSantis is evil and Republicans hate gay people and so on.
They laid down an argument for these assertions. And if you listen to their words and just assumed everything they said was correct without ever considering they could be lying or wrong, then it would probably be convincing.
But they were lying. And no it’s not that they were just wrong. Cenk and Anna are smart people and they follow the news. So when they say something that is openly factually incorrect (and easily verifiable) they know it.
I listened as they made an upside down pyramid. They toss out one lie use as a foundation. They another that is chained to the first. And then I heard a 3rd and as such they come to their conclusion.
It went like this.
– DeSantis signed a “don’t say gay bill” – that’s a lie it does not say that and does not call out any sexual orientation either way
– LGBT books are being banned – no, pornographic books are being removed from schools and curriculum and that is something that was always filtered. Also taking a book or books out of a school is not banning. Banning a book would typically mean it is banned from a country or countries such as Salamn Rushdie’s “The Satanic Verses” was banned from many Muslim countries back in the 80’s.
– Anti-LGBT bills are being ratified all over the country – yeah, not the case unless you loosen the definition of “anti-lgbt” to “anything I disagree with”
Then they stated how Republicans (for them it’s all about the parties) hate Gay people based on what they just laid out. It’s a lie that used other lies to bring you to that conclusion. Yet they drone on how misinformation is a threat and we need to censor people.
I am not saying this is a one sided affair, this is just a demonstration of how bad it is in media now and how they use lies to reach the conclusion they want you do.
