I’m currently playing through all of the Halo campaigns again in anticipation for Halo Infinite, and I’m hoping to finally nail down which one is my ultimate favorite.

As of right now, I think this would be my ranking, but it will almost definitely change a bit by the time I’m done with my marathon.  Also, I have not played 5 yet.  I’ll hit that one last before Infinite releases.

    6. Halo 3
    5. Halo 1
    4. ODST
    3. Halo 4
    2. Reach
    1. Halo 2

    7. Halo 5

    6. Halo 1

    5. Halo 4

    4. Halo 2

    3. Reach

    2. ODST

    1. Halo 3

    Gameplay (campaign):
    1. Halo 3
    2. Halo 3: ODST
    3. Halo: Reach
    4. Halo: CE
    5. Halo 2
    6. Halo 4
    7. Halo 5: Guardians

    Story:
    1. Halo 4
    2. Halo 2
    3. Halo: Reach
    4. Halo 3: ODST
    5. Halo: CE
    6. Halo 3
    7. Halo 5: Guardians

Yeah, I enjoyed Halo 4’s story over the Bungie games. I went there. I loved what 343 were doing with the lore initially, I just wished they had stayed consistent with their vision.

    I’m gonna count the spinoffs:

    10. Halo 5

    9. Spartan Ops.

    8. Halo Wars

    7. Halo 4

    6. Halo Wars 2

    5. Halo 3 ODST

    4. Halo CE

    3.  Halo 3

    2. Halo 2

    1. Halo Reach

Frankly, it was hard to decide where to put bungie’s halos except for Halo Reach being my favorite hands down.  While Halo 4 and Halo 5 aren’t terrible in my view, I prefer the “originals.”  343i era titles didn’t do it for me.   Halo Wars 2, however, greatly surprised me having fun game play and introducing some of my new favorite villains in the franchise!  Despite Halo 5 being my least favorite, it does have the best forge I’ve seen so far.  Every bit of Halo Reach still has a special place in my heart and yes, even armor lock is part of my enjoyment of the game.

Dang we’re completely opposite on Halo 3 haha.  I’m looking forward to my upcoming playthrough to see if I misjudged it and should rank it higher.

I loved the emphasis on the relationship between Chief and Cortana in Halo 4.  That really made that story great.

Reach is a worthy choice for #1.  And I loved Halo Wars 2 as well.  I put a surprising amount of hours into that one.

Halo 2: A groundbreaking sequel with an engrossing plot and iconic multiplayer.
Halo: Combat Evolved: The game that introduced us to the Master Chief and the Halo universe.
Halo 3: The original trilogy’s gratifying conclusion, with an epic narrative and better multiplayer.
Halo: Reach: Excellent gameplay and emotional storytelling made this an outstanding prequel.
Halo 4: Impressive graphics and emotional depth, despite some criticism that it diverged from the series’ core.
Halo 5: Guardians has a strong multiplayer component, but its plot is polarizing.
