Joker War was the big story arc for the Batman-Family.

    *** *** *** WARNING – SPOILERS *** *** ***

The Joker has gotten control of Wayne Enterprises, and all its off-shore finances.  The chief bankers proclaiming to Joker he now has complete assess to $100 Billion Dollars.

His long standing dislike of the Batman-family is fueling his latest plans.  (He was able to get ahold of the assets thanks to a long ago plan with many villains in cahoots on how to do it).

The Joker is using Wayne Enterprises to give all sorts of weapons to the gangs to create chaos in the streets of Gotham.

While this is going on, the Joker uses his knowledge of who each and every bat-member is, he goes after them.

In past Batman stories, it was revealed by Batman that the Joker long ago knew who the man was under the Cowl is (Bruce Wayne), and had even been within the Bat cave, but had kept that knowledge from everyone.

The Bat-Family was mad at this secret being hidden from them.  The Joker had always gone after the Bat-Family in costume, but never directly at the person behind the mask.  This then leaves the question:  In the Killing Joke, did the Joker go after Barbara Gordon just to get at Commissioner Gordon, or was the knowledge he knew she was also Batgirl weight in on his decision to shoot her in the back.  At the time the story was written, that secret was not know to the readers.

The Joker always wanted to best Batman, not Bruce Wayne.  And was always claiming the Bat-family was distracting Batman from what he could be.  So this change to attacking not just the Bat-family “in costume” but also the person behind the masks, while new to the character’s MO, is something long time readers were wondering when it might finally happen.

Sure, you can say in one story arc, the Joker got to the Bat-family by kidnapping Alfred Pennyworth.  This again was going after the Bat-family while they were “in-costume”

I can easily see how this could have lead into the 5G initiative (The Bat-Family is no more, Bruce Wayne can no longer be the Bat – even if he survives).

So while there is still some issues to come out, what has everyone else thought on the story arc so far?

    And, I was thinking.

With Superman having revealed his civilian identity to the world, did that have any influence.

    Sure, as of right now, outside of the Bat-Family, the only ones who knows their secret identity are;

    Lucas Fox

    Justice League Members

    Injustice League, Crime Syndicate, etc.

    Catwoman

    The Joker

Punchline (the replacement of Harley Quinn for the Joker)

There might be more, but not that many.

Could be a coincidence, or just bad timing.

But like my observations above, why did The Joker pick NOW as the time to use that knowledge?

It was already revealed that Wayne Enterprises has been supplying Batman, so everyone knew where the gadgets were coming from, yet attacks on Wayne Enterprises by the super-villains has been light up until now.

For something so big happening to Gotham, why not include the other rogues?  (whom are holed up in the Penguin Lounge instead).

You would think, after all the years, that going solo against the Dark Knight almost always means defeat in the end.

During and after knightfall, with Bane’s master plan, having the villains all working at once almost ended in total victory for them.

Even so, match Batman against an equal arsenal of bat (now joker-weapons), makes for a very intense story, with very high stakes.

And how they reverse the “wire fraud” is something I am wondering how well thought out the writers were.

    >The Joker is using Wayne Enterprises to give all sorts of weapons to the gangs to create chaos in the streets of Gotham.

Ah so this is a documentary about real life.

    All military grade weapons.

The Gotham City Police are severely out-manned, out-gunned, and are by politicians not allowed to do much at all.

So yay, it does sound like a parallel, but not with the military grade stuff, but the riots and looting and anarchy.

I think that hits too close to home for too many people. Isn’t entertainment supposed to be a distraction from the less-appealing reality? I can’t imagine many people going out of their way to enthrall themselves in more riots in the current climate.

Never thought of it that way.

But considering how long it takes to get a story idea to print, I don’t think the start of the riots in the us six months ago was a factor.

With Nightwing hitting issues #75, and Harley Quinn also getting to #75.

Batgirl getting to #50 while Catwoman celebrated her #25.

And of course, Batman hitting issues #100!

No, this was in the planning stage way before the riots began.

Heck, it was originally was to be part of the 5G initiative, which was first reported 13th of June, 2019.

Bad timing is what I think it was.

    Heck, remember when an episode of Muppets Tonight had to postpone an episode;

This episode was originally set to air on ABC on April 19, 1996, but executives pulled the episode from TGIF’s lineup at the last minute so as not to coincide with the 1st anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. The episode would have aired that day had it not been about someone making a bomb threat. The episode was reaired in its entirety two months later.

I remember GTA 3 release was delayed because of 9/11 – they had to get rid of the towers and make a bunch of cosmetic changes as well as a few story changes to accommodate for the climate of that time period. Hollywood movies that were made over half a century ago are being modified to appease modern-day audiences. It’s not a matter of not being able to make changes. I think they’re hoping that most people look at it the way you do.

The Joker now has a Joker-Suit of his own to go against Batman with.

Well Lex Luther did create a suit so he could go toe-to-toe with Superman a long time ago.

So it is not surprising that eventually The Joker would have one too.
