Minneapolis teachers union agreement stipulates White teachers be laid off first, regardless of seniority

An agreement between the Minneapolis Teachers Union and the school district states that White teachers will be laid off before teachers of color, regardless of their seniority.

    Racist and discrimination.

The agreement, which was reached to end a two-week teacher strike last spring, says that starting this school year, “if excessing a teacher who is a member of a population underrepresented among licensed teachers in the site, the district shall excess the next least senior teacher, who is not a member of an underrepresented population.”

So instead of firing the worst teacher, they will fire one who is not a PoC.

The agreement further goes on to say that when reinstating teachers, “the District shall prioritize the recall of a teacher who is a member of a population underrepresented among licensed teachers in the district.”

This agreement needs to be sent to the courts and ruled racists and torn up.

Edward Barlow, a band teacher and member of the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers executive board told the Star Tribune that the agreement can be a “national model” for finding ways to retain teachers of color.

Yay, so it does not matter how poor a teacher you are, so long as their is someone NOT a PoC who could/will be fired before you, you can do jack-shit in the classroom.  Instead of educating the students, getting them to learn, think for themselves, and teach them how to be a success in society, and keeping the good educators (regard of the pigment of their skin), it is more important that instead of educating the students:

“Students need educators who look like them and who they can relate to,” the document says.

Instead of have student work in a multi-ethnic world/workforce, you are saying everyone can only function if they are divided into tribes.  I can’t learn/work if I don’t have X-Y-Z as my teacher/boss/etc.

    What racist FUCK!

I think the very idea that you can solve racism with more racism is so blatantly insane as to make the entire racism claim seem disingenuous causing one to question the initial claim.

Don’t you remember, they changed the definition of racism so only non-POC can be “racists”.

Everyone else can be “racists” without having the label “racist” apply to them.

Change the meaning of a word.

And by calling out this obvious racism in their view is racism.

We are all of the HUMAN-RACE.

So giving special privileges to one group over another is discrimination, PERIOD!

Teachers union agreement stipulating White teachers be laid of first criticized: ‘Constitutionally suspect’

An agreement between the Minneapolis teachers union and the Minneapolis Public Schools which stipulates that White teachers will be laid off before teachers of color, regardless of their seniority, violates the Civil Rights Act, as well as the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution, several critics warned.

      well duh!

“The first thing is that this contract violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Equal Protection Clause under the U.S. Constitution,” Heritage Foundation fellow Jonathan Butcher told Fox News Digital. “This is, I think, political posturing. It is not dealing with the most important issue which is helping students right now with math and reading.”

But that is the thing, they (teacher’s union and school board) DON’T want their student’s to learn, math, reading, or anything that is important for success in live, IMO.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin.

That only applies in one direction, it seems.

“By agreeing to this contract, the Minnesota Department of Education is running afoul of both the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution and the Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Fewer than 1 in 3 of Minnesota’s minority 4th graders can read at grade level. If the union really cared about ‘equity,’ they would prioritize hiring the best and brightest to fix this educational crisis.”

It is an indoctrination that they now do, not education.  So who cares if only 1 in 3 can read at leave, so long as they are indoctrinated with a toxic political/woke/sjw agenda

And THAT is the TRUE crisis in the “education system” today.

No other country since Nazi Germany has had such openly racist policies like the US. It truly is the successor to the third reich.

@Legatus “We are all of the HUMAN-RACE.”     <- No we’re not. Homo Sapiens is a species, not a race.

I decided not to become a teacher, and this is partly why. Even if I did decide to become a teacher, I still wouldn’t be a part of the teacher’s union.

Why do you this those unions/marists are so against private schools.

Education in private schools, teachers are held to a high standard.

Indoctrinations in public schools, teachers are not responsible for anything.  (I had another topic where qualifications of teachers is near none exsistance.)
