Honestly I though it was mindless fun. The fights were good. My only problem was the Character of Cole he was a cardboard character. His story sacrificed the legends characters stories. The Final Fight is between Sub Zero, Scorpion, and Cole who is Scorpions descendent. The fight was mainly between scorpion and sub zero. The movie was more of a prequel but it was good starting point for a series that has plenty of potential. And Johnny Cage is up for sequel. I would give it 7/10 stars.

Yeah, cheesy fun. I liked it. If the Asian takeover of Hollywood means kung fu flics, at this point, I might be ok with it. The lines and the jokes were funny. I like how as they fight, they get different abilities and finishing moves. Ninja clans and martial arts will always be cool. MK does a good job to compete with Power Ranges at this point in time. Sub Zero vs Scorpion was China vs Japan, which was interesting. Cole has a daughter, so she might bear the mark of Kombat one day. I am impressed by this franchise’s ability to create characters, especially, on the villain side. Also, these franchises are a good way to give actors a chance to act tough. I am glad it’s back. Turns out all the Johnny Cage feedback led to a potential sequel. So good. I liked the way it was shot.

The appearance of Sub Zero in Chicago was way cool with the snow and the frost. Then, in the getaway car you see Sub Zero surrounded by mist and fog. It was just cool the way the made his abilities with ice.

I just finished. I don’t have time for a review today, so that video is going to have to wait until tomorrow.

Short opinion?

First of all, I went in totally blind to this. I hadn’t even watched the trailers nor read a single article about it. So I had pretty much zero influence except for my history with the franchise.

Definitely a poor movie. I didn’t hate it, but I was not totally engaged by it. Had some good moments, action was decent, classic MK callbacks and call outs were good, but as someone who grew up on Mortal Kombat, I found it quite lacking in a few ways and frankly was a little disappointed by the end. I think there were several mistakes made in the story telling that if done differently would have improved the movie dramatically.

Cole Young’s entire story was predictable from the moment we see him, and I feel he was a totally unnecessary addition to the MK roster.

That’s my quick take. I’m considering changing the format of how I review things, so we’ll see how I go about expressing my Good, Bad, and Ugly commentary on this tomorrow.

Felt a lot like the first X-men through the lens of Mortal Kombat with the group combat and powers and whatnot. There’s a lot of cool bits, but the script feels as though it was only one draft written on the back of a napkin and was hampered by a small budget. The best bits are Scorpion/Sub-zero related. Kung Lao was cool…too cool I guess. Cole Young would’ve worked had they actually given him a compelling story and some form of reaction to everything happening to him. Either play up him being haunted by Scorpion where he thinks he’s somehow destined for something important, or have him take a comedic approach where he’s all “what the flip is happening?!” Instead, he’s got the persona of a plank of wood. Soulless. But yeah, it’s just alright…a 6.5/10. If there’s a sequel, they need to try harder…and oh yeah, cast William Zabka as Johnny Cage.

Thats your right to hate it. I did not like his story cause it was generic but as a prequel I say it has potintial. The Force Awakens had potintial and Lucas fucked it up. It is up for grabs on if they can make a decent sequel

Just do it, man. Hell, I was once a long-time fan of the series myself until they started covering up their females in MKX and got woke in MK11. I bet I’ll agree with everything you got to say. If people want to get butthurt, that’s their problem.

I just dont get it who is asking for this stuff in Gaming?! I see many games being affected by this “trend”. Hardcore feminists play games now? Karens in the gaming industry? Who is doing this stuff??
Then they complain about gamergate… bunch of weirdos. we should be able to choose how we want our characters to dress…. if you want them all covered, fine. I don’t. this is so stupid what’s happening in the whole entertainment industry. fukin sjws with nothing else to do.

Mainly people who don’t play videogames at all (activists) and for some godawful reason, they are hired to every high position including development teams. It doesn’t help that most people have no spine and just cater to the anti-fun crowd and it gets worse when big publishers (Capcom, Square-Enix, Sony) are changing their policies so they can push this SJW nonsense.
