Was not going to make a thread on this, but Eric July and Odin both talked about it. Sean Patrick Flanery from Boondock Saints and Powder delivers a truly amazing performance in this movie. Some compare it to Anthony Hopkins in Silence of The Lambs and say that his character is much like Screwtape from C.S. Lewis. Also, I have not seen The Pope’s Exorcist yet and heard that Russell Crowe did an interview with Critical Drinker.

This Nefarious film left an impression and makes a person think. Also, it would inspire some of you that make short films because it shows what can be done with solid acting and writing and almost no budget. Really, this could have been a play. It was almost all dialogue and monologue. In that sense, this movie may end up being fairly influential.

On the day of his scheduled execution, a convicted serial killer gets a psychiatric evaluation during which he claims he is a demon, and further claims that before their time is over, the psychiatrist will commit three murders of his own.

‘Nefarious’: Filmmakers Take the Mask Off Evil in New Exorcism Film

‘Rather than getting bogged down — like every other movie — in diabolical phenomena and power, this one brings the viewer into the demonic mind …’

A criminal awaiting execution gets a last-minute reprieve when a court order sends a psychiatrist to examine if he is trying to avoid the death penalty with his behavior. The doctor finds he is a demon who wants to be executed, leading to an edge-of-the-seat battle of good against evil.

It is not often that a movie genuinely surprises me…let alone when one gains my admiration and respect at both a practical and philosophical level…kudos to the team behind #NefariousMovie

Off topic to the thread, but I can’t disrespect Mr. Crowe. He must be included. Sharp actors that reach out to folks who orbit GnG and Nerdrotic. Alex Gherzo gives a good review here: https://www.geeksandgamers.com/review-the-popes-exorcist-2023/

    The Critical Drinker

In this episode of VIP Lounge, I had a few beers and a chat with Russell Crowe about his life and career, some of his biggest and most memorable roles, and his upcoming supernatural horror The Pope’s Exorcist.

I watched Odin’s review. He’s said on many occasions he does not like these “Demonic Possession” horror films for religious/spiritual reasons but from a film making standpoint this one really impressed him.

That’s good enough for me…this one’s going on the “to watch” list.

Interesting review, only because it mentions Outwitting The Devil by Napoleon Hill, the author of Think and Grow Rich. This was the first reviewer to mention that, but it was the second time in a week I heard about that book. It was not mention on other reviews.

Nefarious Movie Review and What Was Written In the Book at the End

Many have seen the movie Nefarious, but do you know about the book written in 1938 by a famous author, that captures an interview with the devil like in this movie. The book was so controversial it was hidden from the public for over 70 years.

The book is called Outwitting the Devil, by Napoleon Hill.

Another reference that one could mention is If I Were The Devil by Paul Harvey.
In all cases, the movies and stories, what happens is that it happens so gradually, so slowly, that you never knew how it all went so wrong and how things got so bad.

I keep a copy of that Paul Harvey bit because it is one of the most prophetic things outside of the Bible I have ever seen/heard.
