New Mexico governor issues order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday issued an emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding county for at least 30 days in response to a spate of gun violence.

How will trampling on the rights of law abiding citizens solve the gun violence?

Lujan Grisham said state police would be responsible for enforcing what amount to civil violations. Albuquerque police Chief Harold Medina said he won’t enforce it, and Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen said he’s uneasy about it because it raises too many questions about constitutional rights.

That is because this “order” is unconstitutional.

The Democratic governor said she expects legal challenges…

Of course the DEMons expect legal challenges to their illegal orders!

Lujan Grisham acknowledged not all law enforcement officials were on board with her decision.

Because it does not go after the criminals and THEIR guns/gun violence, for starters.

“While I understand and appreciate the urgency, the temporary ban challenges the foundation of our constitution, which I swore an oath to uphold,” Allen said. “I am wary of placing my deputies in positions that could lead to civil liability conflicts, as well as the potential risks posed by prohibiting law-abiding citizens from their constitutional right to self-defense.”

But as we have seen in many DEMon controlled states and cities, they care MORE for the criminals than the citizens.  This DEMon order only reinforces that the criminals have more rights and privilege then law abiding citizens.

This situation cannot be overstated.  This is being done intentionally to set precedent. Understand she is using a “health emergency” clause to do this.

This overall is a horrific thing. Instead of treating or working at the root of violent crime she chooses to disarm the law abiding public.  Clearly criminals will still carry.  So once again, the public suffers at the hands of the politicians.

There’s no way such an order doesn’t violate the 2nd amendment. She’s a moron.

The DA’s and police chiefs have all stated they will NOT enforce this illegal/unconstitutional order.

      As expected, lawsuits afoot.

There’s an interesting take in that video. It’s being suggested that she’s being used to test the limits of the law. When they eventually walk back their position, it’ll be a compromise, not total capitulation. So that in the future similar bans might not be all guns but semi-automatics etc.

The DEMonS hope is that by playing the game often enough eventually it’ll reach to a point where all you’ll be able to carry is a slingshot.

But you see this is where they’re mistaken. Whereas most of their supporters just tow the line and would gladly dismember themselves for the good of the party, gun owners are “a tad more independent”.

I said it before and I’ll say it again:  It’s coming.

I liked that one question and answer, and it went something like this:

      Q. So this order with prevent law abiding citizen from carrying guns, will the criminals also abide by this order?

      A. Oh, no.

So they just want to make sure the criminals will have an easier time, IMO.

Judge blocks suspension of right to carry firearms in public, siding against New Mexico governor

A federal judge has blocked part of a public health order that suspended the right to carry guns in public across New Mexico’s largest metro area, with criticism mounting and political divides widening over the Democratic governor’s action.

The ruling Wednesday by U.S. District Judge David Urias marks a setback for Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

But a win for common sense and the Second Amendment.

Urias … agreed Wednesday with plaintiffs who have accused Lujan Grisham of trampling on constitutional rights. Urias granted a temporary restraining order to block the governor’s suspension of gun rights until another hearing is held in early October.

Urias said he doesn’t blame Lujan Grisham for trying to do something “in the face of these terrible deaths,” but his duty is to decide a much more narrow question regarding the rights afforded under the U.S. Constitution.

Wow, a non-activist judge ruling on law/rights as per the US Constitution!

Either way, the temporary block IMO will turn into a permanent block as being unconstitutional when that October hearing is rendered.
