news sites aren’t helping themselves

There are a few news sites, such as the Epoch Times, that I visit from time to time. It’s not unusual for me to see an article that I’d like to look at and maybe even share online in a few places.

But I can’t. The article has been labelled in some kind of special way, and is not open for the regular visitor to read.

For example, Epoch Times has an article up at this time about an Israel study showing a fourth shot is ineffective against omicron. Not only would I like to read that article myself, but I can think of a few places I’d like to share that news, but that article is labelled “premium”, so I can’t read it, nor can I share the information.

It seems like these kinds of restrictions on content are more harmful then helpful, especially since so many news sites are filled with all kinds of ads that I assume pay for the advertising space, though to try to be fair the Epoch Times doesn’t have nearly as many ads as other sites I’ve visited.

These sites are free to form their own policies, that’s not what’s up for debate, but I still think that being more open with their news articles would be a better way of sharing the news than hiding parts.

They want you to PAY to read them, after all they need revenue.  Even though they are so many DAMN ads and crap on them.

Some sites I go to you are allowed to read 10 articles a month for free and need a subscription to read MORE per month.

So when that happens, I go to a search engine, enter the articles title (or just key words), and see if it is posted on another site I could read it from.

Yeah that is annoying. I had the app for about a month then it put everything behind a paywall. They have good articles but apparently I’m too poor to read them haha

Do that many people pay for it that they can justify putting it all behind a pay wall?
