Just after a Variety reporter received major backlash about how Pixar’s new film, ‘Turning Red’, was “unapologetically horny”, the producer of the film says that the film has “real conversations about periods”

Turning Red Crew Was “Unapologetic” About Including “Real Conversations About Periods”

As Radulovic turned to how the film featured “mistaken conversations about periods” – as seen in an image included in the article which sees Mei and her mother speaking over a box of feminine pads – Collins assured the writer that “it was always in the very earliest versions of the film.”

Obviously, young girls should learn about this type of thing when they’re old enough, but it still doesn’t belong in a Pixar movie

Regarding the aforementioned ‘pad scene,’ Collins told Radulovic that studio heads had no issue with its inclusion in the film, with the producer speculating, “I think they saw it very much in the DNA of the film and the characters.”

Yeah, that’s what they saw in it.

While it isn’t outright sexualizing children (which Hollywood has certainly done a lot of recently), it still feels weird to include messages about puberty in a family film. Like, if girls (and boys) have questions about puberty, I highly doubt they’re gonna go to a Pixar movie to find answers

When I heard about this movie, the synopsis sounded funny, I was honestly looking forward to it. Watching a movie about a small asian girl who transforms into a red panda whenever she gets excited, that sounded fun and reminded me of dragon ball and ranma, and while those animes were not made for children, it would be fun to have a more family type cartoon with that kind of story.

But then I found out about the whole creepy agenda behind it.

“A lot of humor is derived from talk about girls’ periods and related products.
A 13-year-old girl fantasizes about a 17-year-old boy. In a comedic scene, her mother accuses him of trying to seduce her, even though he hadn’t done anything.”

Ffs, we’re talking about a pixar movie :S

it’s a liberal goal to sexualize kids. They tried it before when they didn’t have enough power… Now they have the green light and a lot of power, so they won’t waste any time. It’s happening right now. Not just with this movie for kids… it’s everywhere. HBO, MTV, Instagram, Twitch… the future will be so messed up for these kids.
