Woke up today to this news: GMomLJiXkAA0815

And now it is ALL over media, youtube, everywhere. But, deservedly so. I usually cant stand media blown up like this so fast and everywhere, but this is pretty serious.

My first thought was, what about the 120+ countries that don’t have access to PSN? PSN is only available in 69 countries. People who bought the game on Steam in these 120+ countries will lose access. Just like that. Boom. Gone.

And not long after this was posted:

      Screenshot 2024-05-03 124113

      Just like I saw coming.

And we also now have this :

      GMp8ykYbYAAn6PA

Reviews have gone WAY down, fast. In fact, the community manger of Helldivers 2 told people to do that.

      GMq5SQIW4AAUyGd

So, either this will be reversed somehow, or this game is going to fall off a cliff fast.

It was fun while it lasted. I really like this game. Sad to see stupid decisions ruining something good in this world where it is hard to find something good in anymore.

      Refunds.

      Lots and lots of refunds.

If need be, lawsuits and class action lawsuits.

This is just the kind of PR disaster they could have avoided if they were honest from the start, by telling everyone before purchase that the game will eventually require PSN to continue playing and they will give plenty of advanced warning for when it will be mandatory.

By misleading about the “optional” (potential for fails advertising claim)…

@ Legatus_Legionis : According to them they had already said that this would happen eventually, long ago, but they never promoted it and pretty much no one knew about the post stating so.

The thing here to understand is Sony is not stupid.  They know they will lose customers of this game.  But they are willing to exchange that 1 time lose for greater market control (share) which later would/could turn into greater profits.  If you think of it in those terms, it’s not stupid at all and it seems to have fooled most.  It’s essentially a weird sort of grief investment.

            And we have this now

            jjr7xh7eqlyc1

So, not only was it known 6 months ahead of time, it was not properly given knowledge to the player base at all.

This has turned into a huge fiasco. I find it sad, because this game is great and could have been even greater through time. But, apparently we can’t have anything nice or good anymore. I think Sony needs to house cleaning.

That’s like the governments of the world.  Yes we did something horrible, but it’s THIS guy’s fault and it was not at all some nefarious plan.  We fired him and ruined his life so it’s all good now.

An individual I know via YT livestream chat today stated they applied for a refund, and has now been rejected for the eight time.

Someone also said they heard refunds were only if you played 2 hours or less.

That means 99.99% of the people are being f’ed over.

Ya, my brother was playing with me from PC while I was PS5. So, he applied for a refund and was denied. But I was reason that you had to keep trying. Anyway….

It doesn’t matter now. Sony got the message, loud and clear. Gamers won, sort of.

So I wake up and all the gamers are jumping for joy saying “We Won” we slayed Sony they backed off Hell Divers 2.

Hate to burst your bubbles, you did not win. More than likely Sony’s legal department looked at this and said “we have legal issues here that can cost us both financially and public relations”.

Sony should never be trusted; they have proven time and time again they will only do what is in their interest and lets also face the facts they constantly have data breaches aka hacks. Do you really want to have your personal data trusted to them.

Next for those saying lay off Arrowhead: Why? Their CEO admitted he knew about this long ago and hid it, I believe his quote was something like “6 months prior to release and we did not communicate it well enough” So Sony knew and Arrowhead knew and yet you want to give them a pass?

Then there is the CM’S and Mods wonderful treatment of you the customers. Plenty of their kind words about you including how they can now ban you!

No, you did not win, I promise Sony is already looking for way to force this issue or get around it on this game and certainly in to the future. SONY CANNOT BE TRUSTED!

I get you like the game and its fun; I am a gamer myself. But sitting back and looking at it rationally, why would you ever want to go back to it or trust sony?

Do you stay friends with someone who Screwed you over or tried?
Are you friends with people who try and tell you what you can and cannot do?
Do you approve of people wanting to ban you for things you might say?
Do you trust people who will give your personal information out or force you to hand over your info?
Would you go to any business who has knowingly mislead you?
Would you go to a business that tells you, you can only be here if you say and think as we do?
Do you hand around people you cannot trust?

Find a knew game and move on. That is how you win, going back, Well that is like going back to a (X) After a bad break-up, it never ends well and you lose again!

@Mustangride1 : I had already posted the tweet from the Arrowhead CEO that you mention.

You are mentioning to not trust Sony. Well, who can you trust then? Microsoft has done stupid things like this, they have had breaches. Nintendo has done some stupid things. Ubisoft is notorious for nonsense. EA is. Bethesda is too. The list goes on. They have all done things to not trust them with. The bottom line is: You don’t have to trust anyone, nor should you. To me trust has nothing to do with anything. I want to game, so I buy the console and play the games I want. Trust has nothing to do with it because I don’t trust any of these companies, I just want to game.

I do not trust any of them.

Sony least of them all, it has more data breaches than Lizo has rolls.

Independent Creators is more where I put my guarded trust to be honest. But I also have taken precautions for a long time to protect my info. Be raised by a banker who had seen so much fraud when the net came out I took her advise.

                      1. Open an Email that is only for registering things,
                      2. Check it once a month so it stays active and not shut down (by check I mean log in to it, delete all e-mails and then log out)
                      3. Have a Credit/Debit card with a very low limit that is for only online purchases.
                      4. Check my bank statement often
                      5. Never let anyone run your credit unless you plan to buy a house or car <already had my credit cards>

                      6. Have a PO BOX for registering things, so you do not give your home address

Basically “YOU” Referring to me do everything possible to protect your identity and finances. That means if your gut has a bad feeling go with it and check out the company before giving them any information. You trust YOURSELF, and hope your judgement and all the safety protocols you took protect you and your family.
