@Terrantheblack 100% agree on the last part. If you were to try and generalize certain countries under the political compass, I for the life of me cannot think of a single country that has left-wing values but still places the freedom of the individual before the state. Western European countries might’ve arguably been that in the mid-late 20th century, but that’s rapidly changed in the last twenty years (and will likely get worse for us).
On an individual level, during my time on twitter, I have encountered a number of people that can be described as “Libertarian Left.” But there’s sadly very little common ground to be had with them. They may not “cancel” or unperson you for disagreeing with them, but many of them will still refuse to engage in proper debate when confronted on their ideas (i.e the topic of transgenderism. While the AuthLeft takes a sadistic pleasure in grooming others into transgender ideology and turing them against friends and family, the LibLeft genuinely believes they’re helping those (self-)diagnosed with dysphoria to take whatever medical procedures they want, no matter how invasive or irreversible. Confront them with how reckless transgender surgery is destroying lives, and at best you’ll likely get an uncomfortable silence).
I don’t think they’re necessarily bad people, just incredibly short-sighted, naive and refusing to let go of however they viewed the world when they were like, fifteen or something. Their worldview is the definition of wanting to have your cake and eat it. In some ways, they’re worse than the AuthLeft because they enable travesty in the name altruism and some vague idea of “progress.”
The LibRight understands the principle of freedom and the responsibility that comes with it. The LibLeft just wants the “freedom” to stick things up their butts without getting judgemental looks in public.
