Sigourney Weaver Has Read the Treatment for Alien 5

Ellen Ripley is done fighting aliens. In a recent interview with Empire Online, franchise star Sigourney Weaver stated that producer Walter Hill has sent her a 50-page story treatment for a fifth Alien movie following director Neil Blomkamp’s departure. However, Weaver doesn’t believe that the film will happen and that Ripley is done, citing the fact that Ridley Scott has gone in a different direction with the franchise. The news comes on the heels of a recent interview with Scott (the original is behind a paywall at the Los Angeles Times, but you can read the quote on Gizmodo), who said he still has ambitions to continue the story of Alien: Covenant and delineate the purpose of the eggs.
There’s no other way to put it; this stinks. I was really looking forward to the idea that we would see Ripley one more time and wrap up this leg of the Alien franchise the right way. Her final two appearances were something of a disappointment, with only William Gibson’s Alien 3 script serving as a look at what could have been. In recent years, the mandate was that Alien 5 would simply follow up on James Cameron’s Aliens, ignoring Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection. It’s a bit unclear whether Hill’s treatment followed this edict, but perhaps we’ll get some insight into the material Hill presented to Sigourney Weaver one day. Since Cameron had floated the possibility of being involved, there’s always a chance he’ll take an interest in Hill’s vision as well. For now, fans will just have to hope that Disney follows through on more Alien content, though that seems like a long shot at this point.

At this point will someone PLEASE stop Ridley Scott from ruining his own legacy? I thought Alien3 was as bad as it could get until Promethius. Dear Ridley; sometimes a little mystery is a good thing. Stop trying to give an explanation for the Aliens, or find someone whose ideas are less woke and adapt that.
yeah while I Love the alien movies Im pretty done and anything they make will be horrible almost to the point of only watching classics nothing new because it wasn’t made for me let it all fall to ruin and maybe after we can pick up the pieces start over get back to great entertainment not agenda trash
To be honest, Alien should just stay dead and be remebered as one of the best old classics of cinema. At this point, making a good passionate video game would be better if it’s done right, hell i’d like them to at least make a story based around a planet wide infestation, maybe make it the Colonial Marines we wanted.
I’ll watch anything Alien, even if the most recent prequel wasn’t that good.
Ridley Scott messed up with the direction he took. There was some potential with Prometheus but that went down hill quickly with Covenant.
Just let the franchise sleep, or at least make spin-offs or something that doesn’t effect the original story. We don’t want the same treatment as the Terminator series. We don’t need more clone Ripley or Covenant, that feel like it’s trying to be the original but failing. You had it right, or sorta right with Alien Vs Predator. The comic books had lots of good Alien or Predator stories, just look at those, and go from there.
I wish they would look at the books and comics for their stories, even the Alien franchise had some amazing books. Why are they so scared to look at them, especially the StarWars extended universe, it’s like they are vampires and the books are holy water.
Probably for the best. Look at what these stupid assholes did to Sarah Connor in the most recent Terminator. Just watch Alien & Aliens and stop there.
Yeah I guess Alien is dead for good, maybe a new game can breathe some life into it but seeing the current games industry, I doubt it.
