Smaller communities tend to be closer.
Neighbours know each other more than in a big city.
I look down my street. I know less people than I don’t know. I know the first names of four people. A few houses down I have no idea how many people are living there or if they have a pet or kids.
With less people, going to a store they tend to know you rather than a big store where you are just the next customer-move long.
So while it is closer-knit community, you might not get all the specialty stores from a big city.
Alot might be considered a bedroom community (where they live in a smaller community but travel to a close by larger city to work).
I had a friend who HATED big city living (and could not wait to buy a house in a smaller/satelite town).
Me, I would miss out of the amenities of a larger city.
Would I like to live in LA or NY or Toronto? Hell no. Too big for me.
