If you could go back in time….

1. Disney buying Lucasfilm

2. Cliff Burton from dying in a bus wreck.

3. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Lennon from being born.

4. Japan from slowly ending/phasing out the Samurai

Then why not do back and stop Karl Marx from writing The Communist Manifesto.  Then there would not be the idea of communism for Stalin, Mao, Vladimir Lenin to use.

But as many sci-fi writers of time travel have suggested, the timeline will try to correct itself, or most times over-compensate.

To expand on your example, we might get a leader in Germany during WWII who listened to his generals and the axis WON WWII.

And the further back in time, the more the effects can be felt today.

The confederation win the civil war – USA never became a superpower.

The British Empire never broke up – remained a superpower.

The renaissance never happened – Europe remained in the dark ages.

The Roman Empire never fell – Europe never developed into nations/cultures, so a true EU under one rule.

Babylon never fell.

In regard to my #3 of stopping Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Lennon from being born.

We have no idea what effect that could have. It could cause Germany to become STRONGER and not go through the horror it went though. Sure Germany was poor, but many places WERE poor and came back eventually. Look at Japan and how they bounced back. We don’t know if it would go wrong or right, but it’s a possibility it could go right. If anyone here has watched The Man in the High Castle you’d know what could happen if WW2 went differently.

One side effect would be that ALL the things invented by the Nazis’, which was frankly a lot, wouldn’t be invented. Which right there changes many things. But in the end I stick by my time change.

And yes, I’d add karl Marx as well.

If you got rid of Stalin, Mao, and Karl Marx, we’d still have Communism since the real inventors of the ideology would still be around. Get rid of Hitler and Germany would most likely be a Communist country given that he was one of the biggest enemies of Communism during his time. In fact, it was the Nazis (ironically) who saved Berlin from heading towards becoming Marxist. 1920s Berlin was pretty much 20th Century Sodom and Gomorrah (or Pompeii which is just as corrupt) and makes modern day NYC look like the Vatican. Seriously, look it up.

This is why time travel is dangerous. Most people don’t know much of history other than what’s taught in schools (which isn’t the whole truth). You could change one thing and think you’ve made a better future but then things end up not changing much or it gets worse.

Captain Chronos is right, and I was trying to tell you Darth Vegeneant that killing Hitler, Mao, Stalin and others like that might not work. You take one of these people out before they are born and they’ll just get replaced by someone or something else like them as the universe has a way of pushing back if you change history. It is like cutting a weed, another one would just rise up to take it’s place but for history.

And you have think what if we are living in an altered reality right now? What if someone from the year 3000 travelled back to to Germany in the 1800s to kill a guy named Vandal Killar when he was a baby who was the originally the guy who did Hitler’s job of being the bad guy in World War 2 in our timeline but in this original timeline Vandal was the guy running things while Hitler was his second in command?

The time traveller from the year 3000 had ancestors killed by Vandal Killar and had a bone to pick with Killar then killed Killar when he was just a baby then thought in this new timeline that no one would replace Killar and everything would be fine like World War 2 wouldn’t happen…..but Hitler the man to be Killar’s second in command ended up taking Killar’s place in history and World War 2 happened regardless of who was in charge.

Killar was the first weed and Hitler was the second weed that replaced him and this situation could’ve happened already and you just don’t know it? We might all be living in a timeline right now altered by some time traveller from the future who altered the events of World War 2 and we just don’t notice?

Heck if you went back in time and stopped Alexander Graham Bell from inventing the telephone…..someone else would’ve invented it instead of him because according to the history books there were several people besides Alexander Graham Bell at the time who had the idea for the telephone but were too slow or didn’t get the opportunity to invent it before Alexander Graham Bell did. Great minds think alike with the example of Alexander Graham Bell.

So why wouldn’t evil minds also think alike like Vandal Killar and Hitler?
