Putin orders forces to ‘maintain peace’ in Eastern Ukraine after recognizing separatist regions

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered forces on Monday to “maintain peace” in separatist regions of Eastern Ukraine, hours after the Kremlin recognized the area’s independence. The announcement raised fears that an invasion was imminent, if not already underway.

Just like in the region of Crimea.

The Kremlin’s announcement came just hours after Putin, in a rambling, fact-bending discourse on European history, recognized the independence of the eastern separatist regions — paving the way to provide them with military support and antagonizing Western leaders who regard such a move as an unjust breach of world order.

I think he was referring to the Balkans, where the entire region broke apart into ethnic states.

And what does the the biden/kamala admin do?

The White House issued an executive order to restrict investment and trade in the separatist regions, and additional measures — likely sanctions — were to be announced on Tuesday. Those sanctions are independent of what Washington has prepared in the event of a Russian invasion, according to a senior administration official who briefed reporters on the condition of anonymity.

OH, Putin must be shaking in his boots.  Now Russia and its ally in China can invest directly how they want into the region, including and not limited to permanent military bases in those regions.

The almighty foreign policy diplomat that is biden has failed yet again.

IMO, the world is MORE unsafe after just two years of biden than at any time in four years of trump.

Putin’s speech yesterday was truly terrifying to hear as a Finn. He talked about ”the mistake of Lenin”, referring to when Lenin allowed certain countries to become their own separate and individual countries from the Russian empire. And Finland was one of those. This speech is probably the biggest threat to our independence we have ever faced, as it made things pretty clear what Putin thinks about us. We are not our own country, but a part of Russia running loose, and now it looks like Putinin is trying to establish the Russian empire again, ”correcting Lenin’s mistake”.

The CCP has been saying similar things for a long time now.

To paraphrase: Anything that was under their control during the height of their empire is STILL THEIRS.

Russia is doing the same now.

Should we expect the British to reclaim the British Empire?

Should we expect Italy want to reclaim the Roman Empire?

    Should we expect …..

One cannot relieve the past.  History IS history.

This looking at the past, trying to relive the past/recreate the past is wrong.

To be stuck in the past forever shows how fragile their psyche is.

Sadly, this compulsion is a threat to peace, and security, and freedom.

The Donetsk and Luhansk regions of eastern Ukraine voted overwhelmingly to secede from Ukraine, and the populations of both are overwhelmingly Russian, yet Putin refused to annex them. Even today, Putin is only responding to the US and NATO putting warships in the Black Sea and conducting war exercises near Russia’s border. I feel like this whole Russia-Ukraine thing is just being stirred up by the US government and the old media to try and distract the public from the horrible things that they’re doing

    Fucking donkey

That while Trump was POTUS, Putin would not darn to do such things, and waited for the weak biden to take over.  So on a strategic point. it was a genius move to wait till your biggest opponent is at their weakest.

With reports of the continuous shelling in those breakaway regions over the last few years are true (the legacy media does not report on them), and with the call of those regions to “maintain peace”…. ie, their soldiers will come into those regions, and if Ukraine does not want a full out war with Russia, those shellings will stop.  ie. peacekeeping.

While I might dislike what is happening, that fact the so called leader of the free world, and a master foreign policy blunder that is biden allowed this to happen without a shot… (hey, just like how he gave up on the people of Afghanistan.)  I wonder when biden will allow his CCP masters with take the free, democratic nation of Taiwan.

More likely, whenever the CCP wants, now that they see how useless biden’s admin is.

I’m more concerned about the millions pouring through the southern border than I am of what’s going down half the planet away. Theres real shit going on here that we should be focusing on, like fraudulent elections, influx of foreign invaders, crippling inflation, HIV laced vaxxs to name the least.

We have ZERO business doing anything in Ukraine.  Did not like us f’ing in Iraq or Kuwait?  We should not be dinking with Ukraine either.

We need to worry about our own house and not other houses we don’t have specific treaties with.

So why does this happen?  So the war mongers can continue to rape the tax payer. PERIOD.

Whether it’s war, Covid or any other conjured existential crisis, it’s ALL about extorting money from the tax payer.

I am old enough to recall many attempts at this:

      -satanic panic (in the 90’s)

      -SARs

      -AIDs

      -Mad Cow

etc etc etc etc, rinse and repeat

The problem is that Trump is kissing the ass of the dictator of a kleptocratic country, who is arguably one of the biggest criminals in the world right now. That’s disgusting. I’m sure all of you would lose your shit if Biden would praise what a genius Winnie the Pooh is for harrassing Taiwan and Hong Kong. For Americans it might not be a problem (yet),but for Ukrainians or anyone living in a country that was formerly a part of the Russian empire, it’s frightening and disgusting to hear.

First Putler is claiming Ukraine doesn’t exist and is a part of Russia, and then he announces it was a mistake to let certain countries (for example my homecountry) become independent, and promised to fix it and re-establish the glory days of the Russian empire. Basically he is threatening to invade around 10 countries, and he has already succeeded in spreading the seeds into Belarus and Ukraine, and Trump is calling this guy a genius and is licking his asshole. Fucking nauseating.

And for people turning a blind eye saying the US shouldn’t care about this, as long as the US is a part of NATO they are obliged to lend assist to any NATO country. And it is true that it’s not a problem for the US yet, but the longer you ignore the problem, the more time Russia will have to create mayhem and absorb countries to expand, and eventually will come for bigger targets when they feel comfortable.

You seem to echo much of what is on the MSM.

Why do you care what Trump does or thinks?  He does not hold any office, here is a mere citizen.  Why not worry about the problems we have here that Biden and company is either causing or doing nothing about?  Inflation, energy costs, hobbled economy, lack of borders…  All things killing us right now but here we are talking about Ukraine.

I do not believe Ukraine is a NATO member.  To my understanding that was being discussed but it has not been ratified.

Russia IS NOT our greatest threat.  China is.

Why do you care what Trump does or thinks?  He does not hold any office, here is a mere citizen.

Because I am concerned over the safety and independence of my country. Russia invaded us during WW2 and we managed to survive with only minor losses, having to give away parts of our country. After this, we have been a neutral country, functioning as the interpreter between Russia and the west. With a population of only 5.5 million, we wouldn’t be able to hold our own if Russia invaded us again. My great grandpa fought in the war so I didn’t have to.

But now with Putin threatening the independence of the countries that formerly belonged to Russa, Finland included, I will of course criticize the words of any man who shows support for this criminal dictator. And especially if it’s a person about to potentially become the POTUS.

So in the same way you are concerned about gas prises and identity politics in comic books and saying ”why should we care about what’s going in elsewhere”, I am concerned about Putin invading country after country trying to re-establish the Russian empire. Because even tho our military is really tough for its size, we can’t afford to get invaded by Russia again and need to rely on help from the outside.

I do not believe Ukraine is a NATO member.  To my understanding that was being discussed but it has not been ratified.

they are not, which is why countries are hesitating if they should lend military assistance and if yes, then how much. No one wants a third World War so countries are hesitant to put a stop to Putin by force.

Russia IS NOT our greatest threat.  China is.

I would argue that at this right moment, Russia is a more imminent threat. They are fucking invading other countries already.

So I understand your thoughts about Russia and I see your concern.  Is it unfounded?  Not at all.  Clearly for you they are a threat. You probably know more about them than I do but I do not believe they have the infrastructure or economy to even attempt to roll over multiple countries at once.  Now can they play the long game and do it slowly, yes that might be a possibility but I do not think they are doing that personally speaking.

With all that said I still stand by my China claim but I was speaking in more of a general worldwide sense.

          Why?

China IS/HAS already invaded MANY countries and have deeply done so.  They just don’t use troops, they use economics and politics. I personally find that to be a greater threat than Russia’s army.

And I still think Trump is not at all your problem.  If I were you I would pay more attention to the folks in the White House because, well, they are in control now.  Trump for all intents and purposes has no power regardless of how much he flaps his gums.  Which he does do a lot of.    The thing (IMHO) you might need to worry about is if war comes your way not because Putin wants it, but because the war mongers decide they need more cash for their coffers.

I am sure Putin is shaking all over.

Not in fear, but with laughter.

What a joke bumbling biden is.

I am certain Putin knows that currently the USA cares only about controlling it’s people and making money for the elite.  He is not concerned with us.  In fact, this might be why the whole Ukraine thing is a thing to begin with.  Putin sees an opportunity.

            #258173

War /  Invasion in Ukraine started.
