No offense taken at all, lavoslayer.  I appreciate the add’l info.

I was not aware @ParlerSupport was employed by mods, user volunteers, at that.  Addressing some requests for help would require account access, as mine did (change email address), so naturally that leaves me with more concerns about privacy — exactly why I didn’t trust them with my phone number.

It could also explain why support (user mods?) opted to ban me than delete my account. The ban function could be done as easily as checking a box or clicking a button on a front-end GUI, while account deletion would likely require technical knowledge and (I hope) more restricted access to the database.

If you click on the Tip Jar, you will see, quite literally, the more you pay, the more “Influence” you’ll earn.  I’m pro-capitalism, but literally paying for “influence” on a social media site — to potentially be more likely to receive support, in particular, is a bit much for me, though I’m a Libertarian myself. ;)

I remember before we had the internet all we had were bulletin boards where you dialed in with a slow ass modem.

Ok bud, im sorry too, yesterday was a long day and it was late. I was just trying to bring us all together on Parler, but you seemed to come in trashing it saying Twitter is better. But Twitter have banned Jeremy (and many other people i follow, always Conservatives), they shadow ban people and stuff like that. Its trash imo. A purge is coming, they’ve done it on Reddit and Youtube deleting 10s of 1000s of accounts. Just good to have a back up plan for ‘if/when’ it hits twitter

You are completely entitled to not want to give them your number, i hope one day you will though and join us there.

Have a good day pal ✌

I was just thinking bud. Can you not just buy a cheap sim card and give them that phone number if you dont want to give them your main phone number?

I totally understand, my bad not yours.   No matter what happens I hope we will always have this website, thanks to Jeremy.

Sure, that would work, if I try Parler again some day.

I wanna join parler, but I don’t like that you have no choice but to sign up with your phone number. Why can’t it be just e-mail? Bummer.

Another member had this same problem. I had a think and thought, maybe you could buy a ‘pay as you go’ sim card and use that number if you dont want to give them your main number? Sign up, get verification code then switch your sim back? They are only £5 in UK, i think you have to buy a one time minimum top up of £10 or they switch the sim card off after a couple of months? Could be an option?

Hope to see you there Krista 😀

You can then use that number to give to any websites that require a phone number but you dont feel comfortable giving them your main one?
