Wolverine Costume in Deadpool 3 Revealed

Comic books have been coming to life in live-action – to varying degrees – for the better part of a century, but an upcoming Marvel film is splashing a little more color on the screen than usual. Last week, the scoopers at CanWeGetSomeToast claimed that Wolverine would be wearing his blue and yellow comic book costume in Deadpool 3. Today, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds posted an image to their Instagram stories with themselves in costume as Wolverine and Deadpool… and Jackman’s got the yellow and blue! The picture will be gone from the actors’ stories soon – those links may not work for you, depending on when you read this – but you can see screenshots and a better look at the image itself below:

CanWeGetSomeToast deserves a lot of credit because Logan’s costume looks exactly how they said it would, down to the sleeves instead of bare arms. (I feel bad for Hugh Jackman; he probably thought he’d be getting a relatively cool, airy costume, and then they stuck long sleeves on it and dropped him in a desert.)  It’s even similar to the Astonishing X-Men costume, as they described, with the darker blue that’s parted to the sides by the yellow. (The movie version looks darker than the comic one, to the point of almost being green.) There’s also no mask in the picture, but I’m sure it’ll be there in the movie; this is probably one of those comic book movie shots where the hero has his mask off so the actor will get his contractually-agreed amount of face time. The suit looks pretty cool; I’d have preferred a lighter blue and no sleeves, but this is nothing to sneeze at. And it could look better in action; this is just a static shot of him and Deadpool, who also looks cool in the lighter red. I could even see them in a tight situation – maybe there’s a fire or some other source of intense heat – and Wolverine cuts his sleeves off. But I’m looking forward to seeing Hugh Jackman bring another piece of the Wolverine mythos to the screen.
