First point: He’s a babysitter so he’s more feminine.
Again I say that taking care of children can be done by both men and women. You have already confirmed in a previous post that you do not have kids, so I can’t expect you to understand this, just please try to see beyond your own experiences. Caring about near helpless children is not a trait unique to women, As to the point of using the word babysitter, I think that is mislabeling what Mando is doing. Yes, taking care of children is normally a job for women in cinema, but Mando is doing it in a masculine way. Watch his actions, not the overall story element. He is keeping the child from death, and is now presumably looking to return him to his home planet. You call this babysitting, so you think of women. Fair enough, I do too. I guess I should not have used that word in our conversation due to that connotation. When I watch the series I see Mando protecting baby Yoda from harm in every episode, a fatherly trait more than anything else. Protecting others who need it is a masculine trait, so I understand what he is doing in the series, but obviously without kids you can’t see it this way so I’ll move on.
Second point: Mando gets beaten by a woman.
First off, an odd addition since our discussion is about how baby Yoda is apparently the worst. This point is about Mando. Anyway, you actually proved your own point wrong earlier. In your own words, you say that it actually ends in a draw. Neither side wins, Cara just doesn’t lose to Mando. Again, I don’t mind this because of the other point you made earlier: she’s a MMA fighter. Unlike most of Hollywood they actually hired someone who could believably stand against Mando in a fight. And again, she doesn’t win. Tell me who else in Hollywood right now wouldn’t make her win the fight just because that’s the cool thing to do right now?
Third point: He was saved by baby Yoda.
Yes, he is. Baby Yoda stops a rhino looking monster and fire from a flamethrower. I would argue that these are things that Mando, and anyone else not force-sensitive for that matter, can’t stop alone. Not only do they show the power of the Force to a generally Force-less show, but it also shows the importance of Baby Yoda to Mando. They save each other, that’s what makes them a good duo. You also seem to be forgetting the entire first episode when he takes out goons in a cantina and a monster attacking his ship. Not very lame or weak there. Or when he takes out every stormtrooper in the facility, then takes on the entire guild just to save baby Yoda. Yep, a super weak character. Or how about when he took out every droid he encountered on the ship, then took out each of his “friends” that were there right after. I could go on, but the point is you’re focusing on only what you see as negatives without also looking at the positives of the character which are far more in number. He is far from weak because one fight ended in a tie.
Lastly, next time you try to insult me, maybe try to think of something yourself instead of stealing what I said in the previous post. ;)
