Iv’e been told Anime is not the best source to learn Japanese from since they don’t speak things as a person would in normal everyday life.

I have spent about 500 bucks on many books and a few online lessons. There is a a lot of free papers/lessons you can print out online as well. Hiragana & Katakana are what I am focusing on first though. Then I can read it.

I know, i’ve seen videos about this on youtube, but every language i’ve learnt (aside from english which is my mother tongue) i learnt from cartoons, so i probably already talk like a cartoon anyway 😂

Also, just noticed this is posted on Japanese Music 1, as this thread’s gotten quite full and has some trouble loading there’s a part 2 if you want to post any music in the future 😸

The female voice in this song is just beautiful! The fluctuations in vocal patterns are so beautiful in Japanese, it is part of why I am learning the language.

OK…this particular composition group may ring a bell but…as soon as I bring up Linked Horizon…SOME or maybe most of you would be familiar with what came out of it.  HOWEVER…I HAVE to throw this question. How many of you know the former…Sound Horizon?  The reason why I bring this up…is because my best friend introduced me to a particular song that sometimes has been going on repeat in my mind…you may have heard of it you may not.

I like Spitz, they have quite a few songs were you can hear them enunciate words pretty well.

I’ve pretty much nailed Hiragana and Katakana. And I’m at about 300 kanji… still have a long way to go, but I’m still progrssing

Well done. I only know the first two lines of Hiragana so far. A few Kanji just from seeing them enough to know what they are now. I really need to dig my nose in. I bought MANY books and spent hundreds of dollars on stuff, but I’ve just not been doing much. I certainly know the eating etiquette though. Itadakimasu, Gochisousama-deshita. I practice every time I eat. I actually got to say Gochisousama-deshita to a chef in a Sushi place last week. My brother knows the owner/chef and he made us custom sushi, we got to set by him and watch, it was the best sushi I have ever had!! It was cool to be able to say Gochisousama-deshita right to him, and his responce.

If you don’t mind me asking, how long have you been studying?

I am in love with this singer btw:
