Wizards of Waverly Place Sequel Coming to Disney+

Variety reports that Disney+ has ordered a sequel to the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place. David Henrie and Selena Gomez will reprise their roles as siblings Justin and Alex Russo. Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos are also among the cast, and Gomez will executive produce the new show as well. Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, creators of Ravens Home (another Disney sequel series), will executive produce the new Wizards of Waverly Place with Gomez.

According to Variety, the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series “picks up after a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo has left his wizard powers behind, opting for a normal, human life with his wife (Gianopulos) and two sons (one of whom will be played by Thiele). But he gets a surprise when a powerful young wizard (Brown) in need of training shows up at his door… and Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World.”

I was too old for Wizards of Waverly Place when it came out, but my sister liked it a lot. I like Selena Gomez, and I genuinely hope this show makes it, unlike the Lizzie McGuire rebootquel, which would have been more for my generation.
