Migration Trailer Takes Flight

Today, Illumination dropped another trailer for their animated movie Migration on YouTube. This comedy follows a family of ducks who convince their overprotective father to embark on a journey to the Caribbean, but they get lost in New York City along the way. Migration features the voices of Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Awkwafina, Carol Kane, Keegan Michael-Key, David Mitchell, and Danny DeVito, and it will arrive in theaters on December 22, 2023. Check out the trailer here:

I don’t love Illumination as a studio. Out of all the major American animation houses, their output stands out as low-cost and lacking ambition. The first Despicable Me is the only film of theirs I’ve ever wanted to re-watch. This may be partly to blame for my disinterest in Migration, but I think the premise and animation style are problems in themselves. I like Danny DeVito and Elizabeth Banks, but I’m not dying to see them as belligerent animated ducks. This actually seems right up Illumination’s alley; it reminds me of Sing, another animal movie with a bizarre plot.

But what do you think? Are you looking forward to Migration? Let us know in the comments!
