The Acolyte Has a Release Date?

A Collider exclusive yesterday revealed a tentative release date for The Acolyte on Disney+: June 5th, 2024. The show also now has a musical composer attached in Michael Ables. Collider states that Disney and Lucasfilm didn’t confirm or deny the date when approached. From showrunner Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), The Acolyte takes place at the end of the High Republic era. According to Lucasfilm, “The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.” The Acolyte stars Amandla Stenberg, Dafne Keen, and Carrie-Anne Moss, among others.

I don’t feel strongly about when the show comes out. I like Ables’ work based on what I know, which is just Jordan Peele’s movies Get OutUs, and Nope. This gives me the impression that they’ll go for a creepy, unsettling sound for The Acolyte. That makes sense, given the show’s setting and premise. Since The Bad Batch just started and should run about three months, early June sounds about right for The Acolyte, so this isn’t shocking. It is cool to hear before Disney confirms it.

But what do you think? Do you like Ables’ scores, and will you be watching The Acolyte on June 5th? Let us know in the comments!
