First Look At Disney+ Percy Jackson Show

Ironically enough, this isn’t Ryan Kinel screaming. But this audio accurately represents my emotions as I watched this horrific teaser that is Percy Jackson, the TV series coming soon on Disney+.

Take a look at the teaser below:

This was the very first look at the upcoming show, airing exclusively on Disney+ in December. We got a very clear look at the trio, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover. None of these portrayals represent the descriptions from the books. In fact, there is licensed artwork of Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and many other characters available for your viewing on author Rick Riordan‘s official website! The worst representation is, of course, Annabeth, who was originally a blonde with grey eyes. Now, she is a young black girl. Perhaps she will play her characteristics correctly, but why didn’t they cast a girl who could have both her physical attributes and her characteristics correctly? Oh, wait, this is Disney, and they love to “diversity hire” and replace most white characters with other races.

The teaser also showed another man, who I am guessing might be Ares, but I could be mistaken. I believe we also see the minotaur attack Percy in his car. The thirty-three-second teaser didn’t really show a whole lot, except the main trio. It ended with horrific music.

Of course, the Twitter comments are loaded with adult children hating on those who disagree with the casting and are just clapping their hands like the Disney seals that they are. Thank you, Rick Riordan, for being a massive sellout. The show will air on December 20th with a two-episode premiere. I’m guessing this is because the show already sucks, and they need two episodes to start it off right, or to bring the audience in… or both.
