Disney’s Galactic Starcruiser, their Star Wars-themed hotel, will close down in its Florida and California parks. The final voyage is set to take place in September. Galactic Starcruiser is a two-day hotel experience set in the Star Wars galaxy available to couples and children. The two-person package runs about $1,200 a night, while the family rate is closer to $6,000. Check out a statement from Disney here:
“‘Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment,’ the company said in a statement. ‘This premium, boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final voyage, we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans.’”
The Starcruiser was announced in 2019 but has only been open for a year. Personally, I find this funny. I think basing all their Star Wars theme park content on the sequels has been a mistake. The Starcruiser is also unaffordable for a lot of their customer base, and I find such a price tag ludicrous for two nights. They’re trying to pass this off as some kind of win, like it was a successful test. I think it probably didn’t make back the billions they invested in it, and they want out. I guess we’ll see if some kind of replacement comes out soon.
