Ms. Marvel will be the Lead of Marvel Zombies

Marvel doesn’t care if you’re tired of Kamala Khan. In an interview with The Direct, Ms. Marvel actress Iman Vellani talked about the upcoming Disney+ animated series Marvel Zombies, and she revealed that Kamala will be the lead.

“There are a lot of cool characters in the Marvel Zombies show. And Kamala is kind of the center of the show. They described it to me, it’s like, ‘She’s basically the Frodo of the story.’ And I was like, ‘That’s amazing.’”

I rolled my eyes over this when I first read it, but then I remembered that they announced the hero roster for Marvel Zombies a while ago, and they all suck. I don’t really want Kamala to be the lead, but given the rest of the characters, she’s as good as anyone else. This is baffling. The show is animated, meaning they could have brought in any heroes they wanted. The episode of What If…? that introduced the concept (and wasn’t half bad) starred Spider-Man, the Hulk, Black Panther, Vision, Bucky, and the Wasp; this show will have Ms. Marvel, Red Guardian, Yelena, Shang-Chi, and Kate Bishop. That’s a huge downgrade, and I expect to be rooting for the zombies by the end of the first episode. That’s why this is different from the Avengers video game, which pulled a bait-and-switch, selling itself as a showcase for the Avengers everyone loves but secretly being all about Ms. Marvel. (And, boy, did they pay for it.) This is different because they don’t have anyone more popular to sell it with, so Kamala being the lead elicits nothing but a shrug. If Marvel does somehow turn itself around, it’s not going to happen for a while.

It’s hilarious they keep promoting and pushing a character whose comic line has been cancelled multiple times.
How tf they keep using her, but ignoring Squirrel Girl though for real

They’re determined to make her happen. Failure is not an option, though it seems like it’s an inevitability.
