TRAILER: House of the Dragon Season 2 (2024)

Today, HBO and Max released a new trailer for House of the Dragon season 2. The Targaryens and Hightowers prepare for war as Rhaenyra (Emma D’arcy) wonders if those closest to her will ultimately support her. Check it out here:

I loved season 1 of House of the Dragon despite some concerns after how Game of Thrones ended. This show quickly established interesting characters, relationships, and political turmoil independent of future events. King Viserys (Paddy Considine) was an easy standout, but I really enjoyed Rhaenyra, Daemon (Matt Smith), and Alicent (Olivia Cooke) as well. I hate Alicent’s sons, especially Aegon, so I fall on Rhaenyra’s side because she at least cares about the realm’s common people, something that doesn’t interest either of Alicent’s boys. It’s interesting how two parents who are decent people can breed such awful children. Anyway, the trailer looks really good, although I liked the Team Black/Green ones better. But I’m most interested in Rhaenyra asking Daemon if he accepts her as ruler; he is very self-interested and wanted to marry her for dubious reasons in season 1. I can’t wait to see how this exchange plays out.

But what do you think? Are you going to watch House of the Dragon season 2 on June 16th? Let us know in the comments!

Matt Smith is such an unlikely star to me. He’s a really good actor. He reminds me a wee bit of Walter Matthau in that he’s kind of funky looking, but his face has character because of that.
What I liked about the HOTD trailer is that line “more than 1 way to wage war” with the coin and the girls. I like that cloak and dagger tactics and strategy stuff.
