HBO Max Orders More Harley Quinn

Amid the massacre of content HBO Max has been executing of late, the streamer has deigned to renew Harley Quinn. DC-inspired and animated fare has been hit particularly hard by the sweeping cuts made at Warner Bros. Discovery, so this seems somewhat surprising. Season 3’s finale comes out on September 15th, the season 4 order preceding it by two weeks. Sarah Peters will also step up from writer to showrunner, replacing Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker.

I know this show has fans, and this is great news for them. I have to confess, I don’t understand the projects HBO is keeping vs. the ones getting the axe, but I also recognize I’m not a number-crunching executive. I think it’s a real shame to dump content like The Caped Crusader and already-completed films, to say nothing of fan-favorite ongoing shows like Close Enough. I watched the first two seasons of Harley Quinn and didn’t enjoy a moment of the character assassination, shipping fodder, or lowbrow humor. In case anyone needed a sign, this is it: there is no justice in the world.
