Michael Jai White Wants to Play John Stewart

A former Hellspawn is ready to take the oath. In a video he posted on Instagram, Michael Jai White responded to a question asking what Marvel or DC character he’d like to play, to which he replied that he’d choose John Stewart, aka the Green Lantern, as that’s what his fans want. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard the actor express interest in the fan-favorite character; last year, he shared fan art depicting him as Stewart, who is set to play a key role in Geoff Johns’s upcoming feature, Green Lantern Corps.
While Michael Jai White is a bit on the older side to play the role since Johns is rumored to have Hal Jordan and John Stewart team up in a Training Day-style film, White would be great in Greg Berlanti’s upcoming Green Lantern series, especially because he’s already been working with him in the Arrowverse as Bronze Tiger. It may be strange to have White play more than one DC role, let alone the prospect of multiple iterations of the same character appearing concurrently. But the veteran star brings something special to every role he plays, particularly when it comes to his martial arts acumen. Whether it’s his appearances in the Arrowverse or even his work in the little-known Never Back Down sequels, White’s performances are always special and elevate whatever project in which takes part. Little usually comes from comments like this, but one never knows what could happen when you put something out into the universe. Perhaps we’ll see White journey to Oa one day.

Idris Elba would be my firts choice but if written well Michael Jai White could be pretty good

He could be a good fit for the role, but I fear the fact he has ‘white’ in his name will make him unsellable by hollywood marketing teams
John Stewart is sadly underused. I’ve always been confused why they are incisting on always using Hall Jordan, who is maybe the least interesting Green Lantern and treats John Stewart like if he doesn’t excist.
