Monsters at Work Season 2 Adds Cast

The Disney+ Monsters, Inc. spin-off Monsters at Work doesn’t return until next year, but it had a panel at the New York Comic-Con this weekend. Executive producer Kevin Deters unveiled new character pictures and season 2’s guest cast, which will include Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus), Rhys Darby (Our Flag Means Death), Janelle James (Abbott Elementary), Jenifer Lewis (ABC’s black-ish), Ali Wong (Beef), Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), Paula Pell (Saturday Night Live), Danny Pudi (Community), Cody Rigsby (Peloton instructor, author, TV personality), Jimmy Tatro (ABC’s Home Economics), Danny Trejo (Machete), Joe Lo Truglio (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Alan Tudyk (Resident Alien). Guest stars returning to the franchise include Nathan Fillion as Johnny Worthington, Aubrey Plaza as Claire Wheeler, and Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) as Chet Alexander. I don’t understand why Monsters at Work became an ongoing series. Only Monsters, Inc. is anything special; Monsters University is okay, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I’ve never re-watched it since its theatrical run in 2013. Monsters at Work was okay, but the new characters don’t hold a candle to Mike and Sully. Every time they’ve introduced new characters in this franchise, it has been to that project’s detriment. And that’s a problem because otherwise, you’re stuck telling the same stories with the same characters forever. I honestly think it would have been for the best if they had left it at that first movie, which was really good. The prospect of returning prequel characters doesn’t really hype me up for a season of a show I don’t care about anyway.
