Wish Clip: “This Wish”

This morning, Disney released a minute-long clip from their upcoming film Wish. The featurette highlights Asha (Ariana DeBose) performing “This Wish,” one of the film’s songs. Check it out here:

I’ve tried to temper my expectations, and Wish’s marketing has accentuated some things I don’t love, like Valentino the goat gaining the ability to talk. However, I’m just really excited for a big Disney animated musical. The animation looks amazing, and this song is lovely based on what we hear here. Ariana DeBose was great in Hamilton and West Side Story (the latter of which I didn’t care for). I’m also pumped to see a classic, genuinely evil, non-trauma villain in this movie. I don’t want to get too excited for a film that ends up mid-at-best again, but I really can’t wait to see this one.
