Wolfs Trailer Reteams Two of Ocean’s Eleven

Two of Ocean’s Eleven – including Ocean himself – are joining forces again, whether they like it or not. Today, Apple TV+ released a trailer for Wolfs, the upcoming action-comedy starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The stars play a pair of rival “fixers” who clean up crime scenes for their clients, but when they’re hired for the same job, they find themselves on the run from killers and having to work together to survive. Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Rob Riddell, and Poorna Jagannathan join Clooney and Pitt. Written and directed by Jon Watts, Wolfs will arrive in theaters on September 20, 2024, before debuting on Apple TV+ at an unspecified date. You can see the trailer below:

Wolfs looks like it could be a lot of fun. I like George Clooney and Brad Pitt as actors, and it feels like Clooney doesn’t do much anymore. Something light and fun like this is a good vehicle to pair these two up again, hopefully with some good action to keep them busy. The humor doesn’t do much for me based on what’s in the trailer – that slow-motion shot of the kid getting hit with the car and sailing over it is annoying – but maybe they’re keeping the good stuff for the movie. As for Watts, despite his bump in name recognition from the Tom Holland Spider-Man films (all of which I like a lot), he hasn’t really done much. I didn’t care for Cop Car, a thriller with Kevin Bacon that he wrote and directed, and I didn’t see his first film, Clown. On the other hand, he directed two episodes of The Old Man, an FX show with Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow that I enjoyed. As with Clooney and Pitt, Wolfs looks like the kind of movie he needs to give a better indication of what he’s capable of beyond Spidey; it’s probably also a nice break for him after three big-budget superhero films. I’d like for Wolfs to be good, but it’s hard to get too much of a bead on the quality from the trailer.
