Yaira #1 May be the Biggest Rippaverse Hit Yet

It may be a mild 50° in my neck of the woods, but Yaira Winter bows to no weatherman! Yaira #1, the newest comic book from the Rippaverse, the indie comic company founded by Eric July, has officially launched its pre-order campaign, and it’s already a hit. The campaign for Yaira #1, written by Jen and Sylvia Soska with art by Débora Caritá, went live at 11:00 AM Eastern this morning, and in less than an hour, it passed its $300,000 goal.

Yaira #1 is not just consistent with its Rippaverse predecessors; it’s on track to blow them all out of the water, including the barn-burning Isom #1.
Isom #1 hit 1 million dollars in 30 hours.

As of this writing, Yaira #1 has earned $656,987 in pre-sales, and it’s still rocketing forward; there’s a wait to get to the campaign page on the Rippaverse website when you click the link because of the high traffic volume. Once you get through, you can choose from four different covers from artists Canaan White, Will Conrad, Graham Nolan, and Mark Evans, or buy them all in a bundle; you can get signed and graded copies as well, plus plenty of merchandise and, of course, the other Rippaverse books. Eric July and his team pulled out all the stops for Yaira #1, including producing a live-action trailer that you can see below:
The last time I wrote about Yaira #1, I said this one felt like it had a lot of enthusiasm behind it, and it looks like I was right this time. Yaira has been hyped for some time; even when Isom #1 came out, people were talking about her. It was a good move to campaign so hard for the book – the Soska Sisters have been making appearances everywhere, including the last episode of Friday Night Tights – because it’s, to borrow a phrase from a great man (and paraphrase it), blowing the bloody doors off. It will be exciting to follow this campaign and see how well Yaira #1 does when the dust settles; after Isom #1 took in over $3 million in pre-orders, July said he didn’t expect numbers like that every time, and he tempered expectation again in the Yaira #1 announcement video, but if this campaign goes as well as it looks like it will, Isom #1’s numbers may one day be seen as the Rippaverse’s humble beginnings.
