Community Movie Delayed by the Writers’ Strike?

Will Abed’s hopeful prophecy of “six seasons and a movie” ever come to pass? Because at every turn, the announced Peacock Community movie has been delayed or put in jeopardy by constant issues. After an entire decade, the promised film is closer than it has ever been. Yet, the writers’ strike has put its existence in jeopardy once again. Despite Collider reporting that the film has been delayed in their headline, the truth is that Community star Joel McHale simply fears that it will be. No official confirmation of this delay has been made by the studio or Dan Harmon. This is all speculation on McHale’s part, and he admits as much. Even so, this fear coming to pass is entirely within the realm of possibility. Countless productions have either been jeopardized jeopardized by the strike or, if they’re lucky, merely delayed.

If the Community movie is indeed put on hold through the duration of the strike, it will merely be the latest hurdle this film must endure to reach release. After an entire decade and the decline in the quality of Dan Harmon’s other shows, it must be noted that interest in this film isn’t high. The fanbase is not particularly concerned with this delay, as they never got excited about the movie in the first place. The eventual fulfillment of Abed’s prophecy would be intriguing, but this is no longer the same world in which Community first aired. Additionally, the confirmation that Chevy Chase may not legally be allowed to participate in this film puts a damper on many fans’ excitement. Without Pierce Hawthorne, is this really Community?

The interest for this film just hasn’t been there; fans are neither demanding nor excited about it. So, how many people will care about this feared delay?
