Comic-Con 2022: Dragon Prince Reveals Season 4 Trailer

Yesterday at Comic-Con, a new full trailer was shown for The Dragon Prince Book 4. This comes following a shorter teaser that accompanied Netflix’s Geeked event last month. Book 3 aired in 2019, just over a year after Book 1’s premiere. Despite the long wait between Books 3 and 4, The Dragon Prince has received a renewal through Book 7. Check out the new trailer here:

There’s a lot to unpack here. Viren is alive thanks to Claudia’s black magic, but his resurrection comes two years after his fall in Book 3. The still-young Claudia has dichromatic hair now, resembling Cruella De Vil. This is undoubtedly due to the toll exacted by this tremendous display of her magical prowess. Aaravos cocooned himself at some point in the interim, and Callum is now High Mage of Katolis. I’m curious to see how Rayla and King Ezran are doing, as well as Claudia’s brother Soren. I wonder if Callum and Rayla are still a couple or if their relationship didn’t withstand the intervening years. It’s sad that Claudia is willing to go to such extreme lengths for Viren. He has always valued political and magical power over her and Soren, but she’ll figuratively sell her soul and literally throw away her youth to spare him from a fate of his own making. It’s great drama, as is Viren’s toxic partnership with Aaravos. Viren is emblematic of the highest form of hubris, thinking he can control an entity he doesn’t fully understand. Overall, I think it’s going to be another great season from some of the minds behind Avatar: The Last Airbenderand I can’t wait to see it.
