Halloween Ends Trailer Reaction

It’s July, which means it’s Halloween. Once again, I don’t make the rules.

Now that the Fourth of July is over, fall and spooky décor have started appearing in stores, theme parks are putting up their decorations, somewhere there’s a girl making a pumpkin spice latte, and Michael Myers has awoken from his slumber; sharpening his iconic butcher’s knife in preparation for another slaughtering in Haddonfield.

That’s right, folks, we have yet another Halloween movie coming out this year, Halloween Ends, and Universal just dropped the trailer for it.

“Trailer” is a loose term here, as it’s definitely more of a teaser than an actual trailer. Nothing about the plot is revealed. And I mean nothing. This teaser is simply a one-minute-and-fifteen-second clip of Laurie Strode and Michael Myers having a showdown, with a few very quick (and I mean very quick) cuts of people screaming at the top of their lungs. Overlaying this is the tagline “This Halloween: Their Saga Ends,” and here we get a pretty neat strip of Laurie and Myers from the first Halloween film that came out in 1978. They’re definitely making sure we know Laurie’s story is about to come to a final close with this one.

That’s it. That’s all there is to it.

Objectively, as far as trailers go, it’s pretty underwhelming, even as a teaser and not a full trailer. As a long-time Halloween fan, I’m going to watch this film either way, but it doesn’t really draw you in if you’re not that. It does keep the mystery, however, and that’s a plus, even if it’s a little too mysterious. Hopefully, the full trailer Universal releases will give us just a little bit more to go off of.
