Ivanna Sakhno Cast in Ahsoka Series

A Deadline exclusive reports that Ivanna Sakhno has been cast in the upcoming Disney+ series Ahsoka. Sakhno is known for her roles in Pacific Rim: Uprising and The Spy Who Dumped Me. The Deadline report also indicates that Sakhno will be playing a new character rather than a pre-existing entity from the Star Wars films or animated shows.

I think this has to be the least exciting casting news for the upcoming Star Wars shows yet simply because we know nothing about Sakhno’s future character. On the other hand, this means they could do anything with her. If this is an original character, it could be another fan favorite in the making or a badass villain. I guess it’s good to know they’re still going to come up with new characters rather than relying on the classics and animated shows all the way. I didn’t expect them to make a show populated entirely with pre-existing characters, although The Bad Batch pushed the limits of tying in with other properties. Even though I wanted the story of Rebels to continue in animation, Ahsoka is probably the Star Wars show I’m most looking forward to. I’ve been waiting to find out what happens to Ezra and when/how Ahsoka and Sabine find him since Rebels ended.

As for Sakhno herself, I haven’t seen anything with her in it, so I don’t know what to expect from her. I’m sure she’s the person for the job if Dave Filoni and/or Jon Favreau were involved in the casting. It’s hard to get excited when I know so little about the actress and nothing about the character, but I’m still anticipating the show.
