The Fall Guy Trailer Pulls No Punches

Practice your stage dives because Universal Pictures has released a trailer for The Fall Guy. Based on the 80s action TV series of the same name, The Fall Guy follows Hollywood stuntman Colt Seavers, who searches for the missing movie star for whom he’s doubling when the actor disappears from the set. Soon, Colt finds himself doing stunts for real, fighting bad guys and dodging explosions while trying to win back his lost love – who happens to be directing the movie he’s filming. Ryan Gosling stars as Colt Seavers (taking over for Lee Majors, who led the TV show), with Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, Stephanie Hsu, Hannah Waddingham, and Teresa Palmer backing him up. Directed by growing action legend David Leitch, The Fall Guy crashes into theaters on March 4, 2024. You can see the trailer below:

Now, that’s a trailer! I loved every second of this, and The Fall Guy looks terrific. When I started watching, I’d forgotten who was directing the film, and as it played out, I wondered if this would be more of a comedy about the romance between Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. When the action starts, it’s jarring, pulling you out of what you thought was the story, and it works great. The early scenes are charming, with Gosling and Blunt playing well off each other even in these quick glimpses of their scenes together. That’s smart because it makes you connect with them and get invested in their relationship, so the action has stakes. If this is how the movie is structured, we could be in for a great action film. And on top of that, David Leitch is directing, so you know it’ll look great. Leitch was one of the directors of the first John Wick and has since helmed Bullet Train, which I loved, as well as Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw, both of which I liked. He also produced and shepherded the great Nobody and the even greater Violent Night. After years of middling-at-best releases with the occasional bright spot, I honestly believe we’re experiencing a rebirth of great action movies, and I’m thrilled it’s finally happening.

Nobody was good. Ryan Gosling just has it. I very vaguely recall the series original in that I’ve heard of it. Love the concept. Set up for real good action.
This is one reason I like this site is that I would not have heard of this, or at least, it’s the first I’ve heard of it.

Thanks, I’m glad we could help!

I agree, Ryan Gosling is really good; he’s an actor I initially didn’t think I’d like, but he ended up being great.
